	10:26pm Matt from New Orleans: I saw Dr John over 30 times. Almost all of them in the last 15 years. His band wasn’t great for a time in recent years as he fired all the old timers and put his then girlfriend who was decades younger in charge of the band. It didn’t work and lasted a little over a year before he ended the relationship and the band.
	10:26pm Funky16Corners: @Erica - I think Dr John must have been predestined to play the piano. His talent was so prodigious and he only took it up because he couldn't play guitar at the level he wanted!

	10:39pm Dean: I think we're way too overwrought about "ripping off." I mean, Bach, Telemann, Handel...c'mon, it's how you create.

	10:43pm Dean: Wholesale theft: as I mentioned, Bach, Telemann, Handel, et al. There are compositions credited to each that are (arguably, okay) wholesale theft. We give way too much credit to "individual talent."
	10:43pm Matt from New Orleans: The Stones are ridiculously litigious and that’s where my feelings lie on the issue because of it. The whole bittersweet symphony lawsuit was tad much. At least they finally did the right thing and gave Richard Ashcroft back some of the rights.
	10:43pm coelacanth∅: well bands like the stones and even more so led zeppelin and peter paul & mary didn't just derive elements beyond the possibility of not being conscious of it; they did other people's songs and put their names under them.

	10:46pm Dean: My suspicion--and that's all it is--is that the bands (except for U2 and Metallica) don't give a flaming poop. It's their "handlers" who challenge the infringers. Consider Springsteen, who invited folks to tape his shows, until Jon Landau became his manager. Yep, for sure, Larry.

I don't know enough about the Stones' background, their misdeeds, etc., but I remember a silly ad hominem book about The Clash not being genuine punks, because they were art school educated. That's not an argument. (Full disclosure: I didn't read the book.)

There is also a Crazy Cajun LP from the sessions & he licensed the My Children 45 to both Wand & Chess with the Wand 45 being pulled from release (I think). Typically ridiculous Crazy Cajun antics!!!

His band wasn’t great for a time in recent years as he fired all the old timers and put his then girlfriend who was decades younger in charge of the band. It didn’t work and lasted a little over a year before he ended the relationship and the band.
