	10:28pm Kris Holmes: Yeah, The Crunch! Great record. Yes, Jeff has now opened a record store in NoCal & essentially closed the "blog" part of the site down, it had kind of died anyway, not many people were contributing anymore. The message board is still going but many of us original members have pretty much moved on. I actually saw the songwriter of The Crunch perform the song live about 10 years ago with his band, he didn't even remember writing it!! He passed away a couple of year back.

	10:30pm Erica: Yeah Kris I never got to contribute because I couldn't find any strange, obscure records, only what was well-known in my area. Despite me not being a fan of vinyl records, I did enjoy hearing the music itself as it was worth discovering music I didn't know existed in the past.

	10:31pm Kris Holmes: there is still a lot of obscure stuff out there, I still probably see at least a record a week that i've never seen before!
	10:31pm Franco Twinkie: Speaking of the Charlatans, one day I was walking thru the Haight taking pictures of Christmas trees laying in the gutter, and I found myself on Downey Street, and it wasn't to hard to find the front porch they are all standing on in their most iconic photo.
	10:33pm Funky16Corners: Another really interesting band that is all but forgotten, but super important to the SanFran scene
	10:39pm Franco Twinkie: The Charlatans did Alabama Bound early on, and later turnded it into a commercial for Groom'n Clean, a hair gel in a tube that you could use instead of washing your hair. I'll bet it was real popular with all the filthy hippies that lived in the bushes in Golden Gate Park.

	10:44pm Erica: Is it me or do I prefer the single version over the album version of "I Fought the Law?" The album version had too much instrumentation to it and rerecorded vocals. "Let Her Dance", however is pretty good.
	10:44pm Franco Twinkie: Just to be a trouble maker, a friend of mine went up to Van Dyke Parks in a restaurant in Pasadena and kissed him while he was eating dinner.

	10:45pm coelacanth∅: i remember ads for that gel. i wanted to try it so i wouldn't have to bother washing my hair but my mother said no. ...anyway it's not any worse than leave-in conditioner, which obviously will make your hair get dirty very quickly.

	10:51pm Erica: Never heard this version of "She" before. I only know the Monkees version. Did this come out the same time "Runaway 67" came out? (Yes he re-recorded his hit Runaway in 1967, which I discovered on an Australian music blog last year.)

	11:26pm Dean: Whittier Blvd is huge, and therefore interesting. I lived on the east side, suburbia, and even it was interesting. Head toward East LA and it gets interestinger.

	11:27pm Franco Twinkie: One afternoon when I was about ten, I heard all this racket booming thru the air, so I followed it on my bike. It was Thee Midniters practicing a few blocks away. I watched them until they closed the garage door.

	11:28pm Dean: These days Boyle Heights is a "happening place." I.e., gentrification. (Fucking capitalists.) Don't discount Whittier. That's where Flipside emerged, and they chronicled the LA scene for many years.

Yes, Jeff has now opened a record store in NoCal & essentially closed the "blog" part of the site down, it had kind of died anyway, not many people were contributing anymore. The message board is still going but many of us original members have pretty much moved on. I actually saw the songwriter of The Crunch perform the song live about 10 years ago with his band, he didn't even remember writing it!! He passed away a couple of year back.

	10:39pm Franco Twinkie: The Charlatans did Alabama Bound early on, and later turnded it into a commercial for Groom'n Clean, a hair gel in a tube that you could use instead of washing your hair. I'll bet it was real popular with all the filthy hippies that lived in the bushes in Golden Gate Park.
