	10:20pm TDK60: fun back then, when neo-mods, paisley-garagers, neo-rockabillys, hardcore punx, Bauhaus/Cure -type-new-wavers, paisleys, ska-s, etc. all mixed at the club! (along with clueless older longhairs like me too. -heh.)

	10:25pm Erica: Some of these songs fit the 60 garage rock revival theme perfectly, others sound more like jangle pop/alt rock.

	10:27pm coelacanth∅: chresti i don't know how i never took shrooms in the day. first time i ever did was within the last 10 years. i did it twice, very small doses. through the years people often said "oh you gotta try mushrooms it seems like you!" -not sure what that meant!

	10:29pm Franco Twinkie: The Lyres were one of my favorites. Walked thru the snow to see them at Maxwells.
	10:31pm TDK60: Larry, Did you ever hear Plan 9? '80s psych-garage outfit from Rhode Island; they had about 4 lead guitarists and maybe 7 or 8 total. A gas.

	10:32pm coelacanth∅: i saw so many bands in clubs in the (mostly early) 80s, but i don't recall seeing any of the ones played so far tonight.

	10:34pm Jeff Ash: Tonight's show is a flashback to afternoons spent listening to our local indie radio station in Madison, Wisconsin, from 1982 on. It was quite a revelation and quite an education for someone who'd grown up on Top 40 and free-form FM radio.

	10:36pm Franco Twinkie: Larry, Green River opened for the Lyres the night I was there. Jeff Connely guzzled a giant can of grape Hi C and it ran down the front of his shirt. Sound familiar?

	10:39pm doctorjazz: ! Missed most of this, 80s were my jazz education time, with some punk/New Wave for variety . Fun stuff.

	10:42pm coelacanth∅: i vaguely remember seeing the pandoras. i can't be sure. the clubs, especially patrix in new brunswick, usually had 4 bands/night; all or mostly unsigned. i do remember some of the bands that later got more known, but probably just wasn't blown away by that many of them that i remember.
	10:43pm TDK60: Franco -Green O.R. - I have two killer albums of theirs: 'Gas Food Lodging' and 'Here Come The Snakes.'

	10:48pm TDK60: it was sometimes fun to see someone in, say 1984, who looked like they stepped out of 1966, Brian Jones haircut, polka-dot shirt, boots.
	10:48pm coelacanth∅: dr.jazz, it was c.1985,latest, that i disengaged almost entirely from pop/rock type music myself, out of frustration & disappointment. i got into jazz more then too but much more so into reggae and what is now called "world music".

	10:51pm Parq: Hey, Larry. Great to hear "Million Miles Away", one of those power pop anthems ("Living on the Blue Line" comes to mind, as does "Another Girl, Another Planet") that are so gorgeous that they approach poetry. Bet I'll be hearing more examples tonight.

	10:56pm doctorjazz: Coel, I checked out other genres, but got heavy into jazz history, "out" Jazz, just jumped in completely. Was inspired by a college course in jazz history given by bassist Chuck Israels, who had played with Bill Evans (he had to be absent for a week. His sub was Lee Konitz, who put on Miles' On The Corner, pulled out his alto, played and stopped the record to say, "listen to this!"). I didn't actually realize who they were, but they got me hooked. .
	10:56pm Parq: Larry, help me if you can. There was a New York band from that scene, played a lot of gigs but never broke out of local status. The lead singer wore his guitar slung very high, almost tucked under his arm, and sang in a reedy voice that was reminiscent of Feargal Sharkey. They came across as sort of an updated version of Gerry and the Pacemakeers. They had an "S" name. That's all I can remember. Anybody?

	11:00pm coelacanth∅: dr.jazz it was to be a few years later for me. i liked some jazz (Monk & Trane esp) but lost interest until the early 90s, when David S. Ware gave me one of his cds - and my world turned over. i was heavily into old country blues though, the whole time.

	11:08pm coelacanth∅: TDK @10.52 -it's just that i'd seen my favorite 60s bands turn to shit in the mid-70s; then all my favorite punk bands turn to shit fairly quickly.(usually after 1-3 albums. 4 for the cure) by the early 80s i lost faith in "punk rock" and focused mostly on hardcore (and classical music) then the hardcore got kinda boring, + the skinhead element was growing...so i checked out. cultivated an intimate relationship with the shanachie record label!

	11:17pm coelacanth∅: TDK i lived in nj and after paying for shipping once decided to drive to shanachie and pick up the goods. the person in control of the warehouse/ shipping department liked me i guess and always gave me every 5th album for free, and all albums for 8 bucks or less; and she'd throw in some freebies. i'd always go home with between 60 and 90 albums. excellent blues selection.

Was inspired by a college course in jazz history given by bassist Chuck Israels, who had played with Bill Evans (he had to be absent for a week. His sub was Lee Konitz, who put on Miles' On The Corner, pulled out his alto, played and stopped the record to say, "listen to this!"). I didn't actually realize who they were, but they got me hooked. .
	10:56pm Parq: Larry, help me if you can. There was a New York band from that scene, played a lot of gigs but never broke out of local status. The lead singer wore his guitar slung very high, almost tucked under his arm, and sang in a reedy voice that was reminiscent of Feargal Sharkey. They came across as sort of an updated version of Gerry and the Pacemakeers. They had an "S" name. That's all I can remember. Anybody?
