Where can I find a pic of you bronwyn
Avatar 3:43am

Bill Bailey is a great song, so that’s a start. Fine version.

BronwynB:

@zardoz: there's one if you click on my name, although for whatever reason i can't make it not sideways
  3:49am
Zardoz:

Click on your name where exactly? FYI. I’m not a stalker. Just like to match voice and face.
Avatar 3:50am

Stan Kenton’s great. Wow, never heard until us.
Avatar 3:52am

Good whistlin’.
Avatar 4:10am

always good whistlin with morricone :D
  4:15am
Welsh Rarebit:

Can we take a moment to say how weird Morricone’s score of “The Thing” was? It’s like Morricone plays Carpenter, but in a strange way.

I forget! I'm here, now. I went to see Goblin tonight. Hello hello hello.
Avatar 4:16am
BronwynB:

i still need to see the thing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17am
diciassette:

Well, Goblin was playing while we watched Suspiria. That was really something!
  4:19am
Welsh Rarebit:

@BronwynB the practical special effects in that movie are amazing; I believe they made a documentary more or less about them on their own. Some of the most arrestingly weird things you’ll see in cinema.
Avatar 4:20am
Scraps:

I wonder which Kenton you will play... This Is an Orchestra? ... hm, hm, hm....
  4:21am
Welsh Rarebit:

@diciasette That does sound pretty amazing. I’m not a massive Goblin or giallo fan in general, but that sounds like the real deal.
Avatar 4:23am

@welsh rarebit: sounds great, i love arrestingly weird things :D

Steiner in Whately:

Zoo zoooooo
  4:38am
Welsh Rarebit:

I hope everyone has seen the tv clip of Bruce Haack with mr Rogers. It’s possibly the best meeting of minds ever and at the end a bunch of kids dance to synthesizer and flute music.
Avatar 4:39am
BronwynB:

@welsh rarebit: this time slot is pretty tiring im ngl which is one of the reasons i try to keep the music energetic
Avatar 4:41am
BronwynB:

that bruce haack/mr rogers thing sounds amazing and i must track it down posthaste
Avatar 4:41am
Scraps:

Electric Lucifer is great. Tracked down lots of Haack, which not as great, but sometimes weird
Avatar 4:43am
Scraps:

It’s on YouTube. It is wonderful
Avatar 4:46am
Scraps:

I can’t remember the woman who collaborated with Haack on their children stuff, but she was there too
  4:46am
Welsh Rarebit:

A lot of people don’t know that it was a Canadian (Hugh le Caine) who made the first “synthesizer”. It’s in a museum there somewhere and looks like a weird Frankenstein’s monster of ply and piano keys with electrical guts. I suppose Moog made the instrument on a big scale so he’s more associated with the instrument.

Sorry, a bit tangential, but trying to explain perhaps how Haack was technologically at the forefront.
  4:47am
Welsh Rarebit:

That said, Raymond Scott was pretty ahead of his time.
  4:47am
Steiner in Whately:

Thanks for turning me on to Bruce haack. Incredible.
Avatar 4:49am

Esther Nelson (“Miss Nelson”) was her name.

I have neglected most Brian Ferry & Roxy past the Eno years. I feel stupid now.

@welsh rarebit: thanks for the info, very interesting!! i <3 synths so good to know some of the history

@steiner: yay im so glad you like him!! he's the best
Avatar 4:51am

@welsh rarebit: that was actually BRIAN ferry, no relation to bryan ferry of roxy music ;)
  4:52am
Welsh Rarebit:

Oh, haha. Mea culpa.

This has the "Another One Bites the Dust" bassline (I went to a lot of roller rinks)

@Diciasette I was thinking “wait a second? That sounds familiar”.

“Brian with an “I” who is just a guy” - his press release
Avatar 5:01am
Scraps:

Well, Bryan with a y has no sense of humor at all.
  5:03am
Welsh Rarebit:

@Scraps IIRC, Bryan Ferry is pro fox hunting so that makes me want to dislike him anyway.
Avatar 5:04am
Scraps:

Wow, that’s.... something, all right
  5:05am
Welsh Rarebit:

Not sure if the hatred of fox hunting is transatlantically understood, but in the UK we banned hunting for sport in the early 00’s, but it was seen as this upper-class right and is part of the class divide (and the nobles still do it, but hide it).
Avatar 5:06am
Scraps:

Maybe a fox climbed into his crib.
  5:09am
Welsh Rarebit:

This song has confused me entirely. It’s so Tori Amos in multiple ways though.
  5:11am
Welsh Rarebit:

@BronwynB have you heard The Residents American composer series?
Avatar 5:17am
BronwynB:

i've parts of the williams/sousa one, its great
  5:20am
Welsh Rarebit:

I better get out of bed and on with the day. Night everyone.
Avatar 5:20am
Scraps:

Twenty-five years ago Tori Amos called my line looking for Neil Gaiman (he wasn’t there).

Really.

This was a scene from my life that in one sentence can be summed up as, “Neil Gaiman stole my to-be-wife.” (And eventually dumped her.) Good times!
Avatar 5:24am
BronwynB:

bye welsh rarebit!
