Hey Bronwyn, this is the first time I ever listened you you in real time. Having lost both Bill Mac and Circle Time in the Sunday morning breakfast slot (CET time) I am happy to have you.

@fred: mort is the best!

@andy: thanks for the kind words, glad to have you here :)

Wow, Ryuichi Sakamoto covered "Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair" and I had no idea it was a cover. It's called Romance from his album Beauty. Pretty different version, with singers from Okinawa
Avatar 5:05am
Scraps:

“You Must Meet My Wife” is one of my top ten Sondheim songs. Thank you!
Avatar 5:06am
BronwynB:

@fred: sounds great, i'll have to check that out!
Avatar 5:07am
BronwynB:

@scraps: it's one of those that makes me want to throw out every lyric i've ever written...
Avatar 5:07am

Jay, I’m very sorry. I know....
Avatar 5:08am
Andy in Berlin:

I have Ryuichi's version on a tape from the early 90s. It's pretty good.

Beauty is one of the Sakamoto albums that I haven't checked out yet, for no good reason. Will have to soon.

Avatar 5:25am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29am
fred:

@jkeigh: I love that record. I didn't know anything about Sakamoto when I bought it: he was signing it in a record store and that sounded like a great reason to skip class. One of the best decisions I ever made
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31am
jkeigh:

@awesome that you met him. I've only ever seen him live once when he joined David Sylvian on stage during the Everything and Nothing tour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34am
jkeigh:

Haha, Synchronicity or did Fred and I influence the playlist Bronwyn?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35am
fred:

YMO! I had my mother knit a sweater with the band's logo in front and the band members names in the back (in kanji)
Avatar 5:39am
BronwynB:

@jkeigh: total coincidence, i plan all my shows in advance!
Avatar 5:39am

@fred: that is AMAZING
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40am

I'm going to thank you now for a wonderful show. Have to run to the store real quick so I'm going to listen in the car / on headphones. Hear you again next week. Yay Bill Nelson!

I am reading that Haruomi Hosono's grandfather was ostracised in Japan for deciding to leave the Titanic and not go down with it. I'm learning a lot this morning!
