	10:33pm still b/p: A story I saw earlier this evening about Joni Mitchell's 1970 Isle of Wight appearance and a new doc about it notes "Donovan showed up in a Gypsy-styled caravan with beveled windows."
	10:33pm Franco Twinkie: The Godsin Bros. teamed up with Gene Clark after he left the Byrds for a bunch of songs that were released as Early L.A. Sessions years later. A truly remarkable record

	11:04pm Dean: I believe he was solo. Ninety percent certain. Was at the Aladdin Hotel in Vegas, the very last time I've ever been to LV (not counting one layover at the airport).
	11:04pm Parq: "Sunshine Superman" was one of those Changed My Life records for me. I am confident that I would be at least a somewhat different person today if that record had never existed. And "Epistle to Dippy" was one of those records that separated me from my friends, none of whom got it in the least.

I heard and liked Donavan's Widow With A Shawl a few times back in the 70s, but no one I ever mentioned it to over the years knew what the hell I was talking about when I mentioned it or inquired about it.

	11:32pm Funky16Corners: I think Mellow Yellow benefited from vagueness. Superlungs, not so much
	11:33pm Dean: It is, indeed, Franco, a few short blocks south of the bowling alley, right at Solano.
	11:33pm Funky16Corners: @Erica I put it that way because most folks are familiar with the 45 version which is radically different (shorter, restructured)

	11:34pm Dean: Opening bands were a trio of young, talented musicians (I missed the first group), utterly devoted to a punk ethos. And then The Vibrators took the stage and demonstrated how punk had nothing to do with devotion to anything.
	11:36pm Dean: (Only one was from the original band c. '77, but the others were, uh, of a certain age and duly beer-bellied or en-leathered.)
	11:36pm Franco Twinkie: Dean, do you ever go to that place on Gillman?
	11:38pm Dean: I've never been to the punk venue, no, but I live about three, four blocks from it.
	11:39pm coelacanth∅: right. so, before leaving Donovan behind, i wonder if anyone agrees with me; or would admit to agreeing with me... i love the "over-produced" version of catch the wind that used to be on the Donovan's greatest hits album; now replaced (a la little wing on Hendrix in the west; or darker than blue on Curtis!)with the trying-to-sound-like-Dylan version, which i think lacks in emotion and is generally weak. ...the orchestrated version seems to be hard to get now. i'm glad i still have the original record.
