	10:07pm Funky16Corners: The vacation was a lot of fun. Many crab cakes were ingested as well as many beers and I brought home a bunch of records. My birthday was delightful, thank you. Some new cooking supplies and books.

	10:12pm Funky16Corners: @Erica - I LOVE the eggs, and the pork belly, and the noodles and the seaweed and every other delicious Japanese thing they stuff in there. I haven't tried cold ramen yet, but I intend to soon.

	10:14pm Funky16Corners: My youngest son loves the instant ones, and they are a lot cheaper than the real thing.

	10:19pm Dean: Mexican in LA (rather, East LA) is great in the strip malls, too. Pico Rivera, Norwalk, Downey, Whittier...my haunts.

	10:21pm Funky16Corners: David Chang did a great episode of his show Ugly Delicious where they hit up regional taco trucks (i.e. Mexican regions) in LA. It looked amazing.

	10:27pm Franco Twinkie: Don't forget Huntington Park. There is this place called Aqui Es Tescoco that is in some industrial area that serves boreggo (lamb) Mexico city style, on the weekends.
	10:27pm Dean: When the audience expands, the product often suffers. Folks have been dining at Los Sanchez for years (though now it's renamed, which disturbs me). It is a viable, superlative Mexican take-out joint. They're not equipped to handle quasi-celebrity, thanks to, well, David Chang, Guy Fieri, etc.
	10:27pm Funky16Corners: We're very lucky that Central NJ has become a settling ground for people from Southeast and South Asia. There is a great variety of Chinese, Indian, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Korean food within driving distance. Unfortunately our local banh mi place shut down recently.

	10:30pm Funky16Corners: @Chresti - My wife is a teacher and she would LOVE a later start time. In our town I think that the early start time in the high schools is due to distribution of bus resources.

The first place I saw was Senior Fish, so it was fish burritos for me and the missus. While scarfing her's down, Chesti comment how they resemble the great mission style burritos in SF. Now I know them is fightin' words to lots of L.A. homies, but shit dude, these killed it...maybe I was just starving.
	10:40pm Erica: Not me. I had trouble getting any sleep as a teenager (stress, IBS, worries).
	10:41pm Dean: I have never partaken of a "mission style burrito." I have, however, enjoyed burritos in Concord, which are dynamite.
	10:41pm Funky16Corners: I remember coming home from school and collapsing on the couch for two hours, then eating dinner and staying up until midnight listening to the radio.

	10:57pm rw: Hey Franco! Mostly we go to a place called Taqueria de Anda. There are a couple around here. Had a rice bean and cheese burrito from there today! There's also an El Faralito down the street. Excellent breakfast place.
	10:57pm Funky16Corners: @Doc - Her real name is Linda Tillery. She was the lead singer of a San FRancisco band called the Loading Zone. Why they 'rebranded' her like that I have no idea, but it was only for one album

	11:03pm coelacanth∅: when i bought revolver, as a teen, i didn't know to get the original version, as opposed to the bullshit american version (on capitalist records) - so there was no i'm only sleeping, no and your bird can sing, and no doctor robert - 3 of the best songs on revolver; so i didn't understand why people raved about the album.

	11:08pm rw: I never bought Beatles records. Every time I picked up one in the record store I would look at the song titles and hear every one of them clearly in my head so I didn't see a reason to shell out the cash and move on to something else.
	11:09pm Franco Twinkie: I was in San Francisco with my family the week Revolver was released. So, on KYA, Got To Get You Into My Life was in heavy rotation with You Can't Hurry Love by The Supremes and You're Gonna Miss Me by The 13th Floor Elevators!

	11:14pm Franco Twinkie: Oh yeah, the other big song in SF that summer was What's Become Of The Broken Hearted by Jimmy Ruffin. Those songs will be some of my memories on my death bed for sure.
	11:17pm coelacanth∅: i feel like i profoundly know all the beatles albums, but i still love listening to them.
	11:17pm Funky16Corners: It's funny, a smuch time as I spend digging into the 60s (and earlier) my formative radio years were in the 70s, and I find myself lingering on the Sirius 70s channel in the car and experiencing some deep nostalgia, even with records that I'm not particularly attached to, simply because of the Proustian impact of them bringing moments of my youth back to me.

	11:18pm chresti: My first Beatles was from the babysitter when she brought “I wanna hold your hand” with her. Later, when we moved to California, my big brother’s friend from next door , in Illinois, would send a pile of records every year starting in ‘66 or ‘67.

	11:21pm Funky16Corners: @Erica - It's strange but I think a combination of my own age, and the fact that my oldest son is the age I was in 1976, has unlocked a powerful wave of nostalgia/yearning in me recently. It was kind of unexpected.

	11:23pm Erica: The thing about nostalgia is though, you can't feel it until you've experienced something before in the past. It isn't nostalgic if you're unfamiliar with something. Obvious but true. Better to learn things now before it's too late.
	11:24pm Funky16Corners: I was an unhappy kid. I'm more nostalgic for youth itself than for anything I experienced
	11:26pm Erica: But how can you feel nostalgic about a time you were an unhappy kid?
	11:26pm rw: F16C, That's one of my favorite things about having kids, seeing them experience the world from a fresh perspective.
	11:27pm still b/p: Funny to look back. Though I was a youth neither of initiative or optimism, from way up here now that seems a time of open possibilities. Erica -- Never look for complete logic in nostalgia.

	11:36pm Funky16Corners: I think I walked away from 70s mainstream pop for so long that it sounds somewhat refreshing these days
	11:38pm Erica: I don't have Sirius XM but my sister's husband has it in his car. He had Classic Vinyl on, which was the classic rock station back in November.
	11:39pm Franco Twinkie: The music you were exposed to as a youngster has a better chance of sticking in your brain - the cement is still wet.
	11:39pm coelacanth∅: i still don't want to hear that much of the radio music from the mid-seventies onward, but given the choice of 70s rock and pop, or any of the overwhelming majority of music made from the mid-80s until now, it's a no brainer. 70s.
	11:39pm Funky16Corners: I mainly listen to 60s, 70s, Little Stevens Underground Garage, Soultown, and the classical stations

	11:42pm Dean: Come the '70s, I started listening to medieval and Renaissance music, Western classical, what came to be known bizarrely as "world" music. Rock and pop were just more of the same. If you've heard Clemencic's traversal of Carmina Burana tunes, you realize rock/pop have deep histories.
	11:42pm rw: Man, I find so many compelling shows on WFMU I find it difficult to get too far away. Luckily I'm on the west coast so the late night shows are on during my prime time.
	11:42pm Erica: I didn't make up the station name sadly coel. And not all mp3s are distorted. Depends on the quality of the rip.
	11:43pm Funky16Corners: My Sirius listening is all in the car, always on trips too short to listen to a podcast
	11:44pm coelacanth∅: i listen to a lot of new music; but almost nothing that is acceptable to "the mainstream audience". no Franco, i know. some mp3s sound decent. that's never been my experience with sirius though. i'd rather listen to the motor.

It is a viable, superlative Mexican take-out joint. They're not equipped to handle quasi-celebrity, thanks to, well, David Chang, Guy Fieri, etc.
	10:27pm Funky16Corners: We're very lucky that Central NJ has become a settling ground for people from Southeast and South Asia. There is a great variety of Chinese, Indian, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Korean food within driving distance. Unfortunately our local banh mi place shut down recently.

	11:17pm Funky16Corners: It's funny, a smuch time as I spend digging into the 60s (and earlier) my formative radio years were in the 70s, and I find myself lingering on the Sirius 70s channel in the car and experiencing some deep nostalgia, even with records that I'm not particularly attached to, simply because of the Proustian impact of them bringing moments of my youth back to me.

	11:42pm Dean: Come the '70s, I started listening to medieval and Renaissance music, Western classical, what came to be known bizarrely as "world" music. Rock and pop were just more of the same. If you've heard Clemencic's traversal of Carmina Burana tunes, you realize rock/pop have deep histories.
