	10:10pm Erica: Yeah. My first root canal was infected. They had to remove the crown and the tooth. Now it's just a hole.

	10:15pm Funky16Corners: I think part of the problem was a hack dentist that I went to in my 20s, who did some damage. The current dentist who I've been seeing for maybe 10 years is great.

His goodbye message to patients arrived in the mail the same day last week as a retirement notice from a chiropractor/friend who's treated me for a number of things, also across 25 years. Somebody blew the "take your shingle down, doc!" whistle 'round here.

	10:33pm still b/p: When my shoulder went plenty painful kerfluey over the winter, friends had recommendations for this hands-on person or that medical person, but I went to the doc friend, and got to appreciate EXACTLY the things that steered my choice: he was interested, gave good attention and time, made it reassuringly personal -- the features and factors sadly and coldly and offensively long vanished from most other medical experiences. A good guy among the soulless ranks.

	10:34pm Funky16Corners: @SBP - I have chronic kidney issues and finally have a doctor who seems to know what he's doing. I have to drive an hour to see him, but it's worth it.

	10:39pm Funky16Corners: It's funny, I'm older than some of my doctors now. And, I'm not sure whether or not to be insulted - someone gave me a senior discount the other day (that I didn't ask for). Harrumph!

	10:43pm coelacanth∅: chresti they do that to me every year when i renew, and i call them and tell them i'm not going to that new coctor and they send me another card with my old doctor's name on it. but this time it wont happen. my doctor and that insurance company parted ways last year, but they gave me a 1 year grace period.
	10:45pm Funky16Corners: Our saving grave is my wife's excellent insurance. It got us through her (two) cancers and my kidney bullshit
	10:45pm Franco Twinkie: First time I was offered a senior discount I was at The Cartoon Museum in San Francisco, and yes I went Harrumph until the young shaver at the counter said: $2.50. Now that I am a senior I get pissed if they don't offer me a price break.
	10:45pm coelacanth∅: i like him because he understands that i'm trying to be healthy, not just relieve the symptoms; but more than that when i tell him i'm using golden seal root for my infection (ie) he doesn't smirk and patronise me. he fully respects it - even if he doesn't know anything about it.

	10:50pm coelacanth∅: yeah. before the year's over i might go get some dental work done, get new glasses, (which is all covered now) and then switch policies so i can still my likable doctor.

	10:50pm Erica: The only reason I had to switch doctors was because my clinic in Paulsboro closed down and had to go to the one in Woodbury. And the doctors keep transferring to Mullica Hill. I was supposed to finally meet my new doctor the week of the 4th of July but with the holiday and my sister's wedding happening, plus we had that awful heatwave, it had to be cancelled.

	10:53pm coelacanth∅: i like that when the home recording of Timmy Thomas was sent to the record execs for consideration of re-doing it professionally whomever got the tape had the very good sense to know it was perfect as it was.
	10:53pm still b/p: Talking to a young bank teller several weeks ago about checks -- gave up the regular checkbook system a few years back. Replacing them is an expense, and I don't need 'em other than for monthly rent and a few others in a year. But there are pros and cons of the alternatives such as individual bank checks. She asks my age, and when I tell her I'll hit a milestone shortly, she gives good news. And about 2 weeks ago, what was delivered to me? Free checks, bitchezzzzzz! And now, I pause my own jeep tour of age-land and patient-land to say my ears, shoulder, teeth and checkbook are all enjoying the HELL out of tonight's music!

	11:14pm still b/p: Heard an interview with Temptation Otis Williams a few weeks ago, prompted by the musical Ain't Too Proud. He covered many things..and you can't cover everything, but when he was emphasizing the power and endurance of the music, I noted with disappointment that he offered NO shout-out or hat-tip at all to the songwriters, the producers or -- come on! -- the musicians who obviously were crucial in the success, sound-distinction and legend status of that music.

	10:33pm still b/p: When my shoulder went plenty painful kerfluey over the winter, friends had recommendations for this hands-on person or that medical person, but I went to the doc friend, and got to appreciate EXACTLY the things that steered my choice: he was interested, gave good attention and time, made it reassuringly personal -- the features and factors sadly and coldly and offensively long vanished from most other medical experiences. A good guy among the soulless ranks.

She asks my age, and when I tell her I'll hit a milestone shortly, she gives good news. And about 2 weeks ago, what was delivered to me? Free checks, bitchezzzzzz!
