Il restera cet air-là, à jamais au fond de moi
Car pour toujours cet air-là parlera de toi et moi.
Il restera cet air-là, à jamais au fond de moi
Et je sais que cet air-là te ramènera vers moi.

There will remain that air, forever in my heart
Because forever that air will talk about you and me.
There will remain that air, forever in my heart
And I know that air will bring you back to me.

Magical moment in the late 90's when my cousin gifted me this April March EP. He was expecting more of the Shitbird's sound. :P Lucky me!!!

The best 35 francs I ever spent was a paperback of Serge Gainsbourg lyrics, so it had some France Gall lyrics. I had a big French dictionary from taking French classes, but I couldn't really translate that well.

I had no idea about France Gall's later output. She matured into a really serious artist. Why do we have to wait for deaths to have shows like this. You should treat us to tribute shows Sheila of your favourtie artists.

The last artist I listened to who I think shows her innocence in her music like that is Norwegian singer Aurora

MERCI BEAUCOUP! I first heard this playing on a tiny radio in the beautiful village of Valbonne, in the south of France in an antique store. I fell in love with it immediately. When I watch the video clip of that song, I can see nearby Cannes in the background. It was meant to be!

So glad you're going into the '70s and '80s, Sheila. We have a tendency to undervalue artists' "later" work when in fact this is often when they most thoroughly expressed themselves. (I'm thinking of another artist you interviewed on the show, Lesley Gore, whose later work was actually her most personal.) What an outstanding tribute!

I learned some HS French. Sorry Mme Barr.
Haitians I've worked with made sport of my poor grasp on this,
as well as one Guinean who was glad to spar on relevant meanings of
words.
Makes me sad they came from "shithole" countries as described by my president.
Not my experience, as a former worker in Palm Beach Island in the landscape industry.
As one white landscape company owner told me in 1997, " There would not be one green lawn or proper hedge or tree here if not for Haitian workers."
Go suck it, Don! These are the illegals who built your winter home you're shitting on now.
And they speak French.
