Brian Cat—I think it's because I'm always looking for melody. And the 80s had a whole lot of it. Hence being attracted to the new bands who have that 80s aesthetic. So much new music is rhythm based, and it just doesn't move me in the same way.

Avatar 5:19pm
Brian Cat:

Rob, I agree about the lack of melody. I kind-of dig electronic music. The hits of today are not all synths, they are all about electronic sounds and the sounds are just not musical. I don't know what the major labels are trying to show us.

I don't like synthesizers. But of course it's the music from when you grow up (when you're in your teens) that you will always remember the best. I'm from '54 and started to listen to music in '66 and that year will always be the best pop year for me.

It's funny how the taste systems of the brain go reaching and blocking and shifting. 1966 was an outstanding year for pop -- the top 100 is an unBELIEVABLE array. But I like music from nearly a hundred years ago through today -- though surely not all of it all the way through.

I'm a 60's man with an eye for new music. Am listening to SBB for 2 years now?
