Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

When free-form first hit the NY area (at least the first I heard it), on WABC-FM (which later became WPLJ-FM) at about the same time as this archive, it sounded very similar; minimal comments from a "DJ", hardly even any announcements on the music that was being played.

They're a Christian Rock/Metal Band (my younger daughter was obsessed with them for a while-I took her to see them a few times...)
In the country world there was Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers (be sure you let it cool first before you try this at home...)

Also, if you haven't seen the Mick Rock doc, I recommend it. I'd known of him, but not the whole story. Very talented photographer, in live or studio situations. I learned a lot.
