Play things with plenty of atmosphere and appealing vibes but with back-masking that'll encourage productivity.

@Flash - I had to duck out for the 2nd half of your program, will catch that in the archives - i very much enjoyed that first half, looking forward to the rest!

Not a complaint or boast, just a note of shift: I was up before 6:30 every work day for almost 25 years. Verrrry different now -- oh, don't see that hour too often -- since a large work change led to irregularities in schedule and life. Gotta be at a work location by 5 AM one day later this month though.

I had to wake up at 7am for years for a gov't job. That was rough enough for me. Every morning I felt a antipathy to the world

MrFab:

I work evenings now. It's a drizzly night, Bunker Hill, downtown LA. Which isn't as noir as it sounds. But I did bring a trenchcoat!
Avatar 10:37pm
northguineahills:

Very nice Peter Wright into an old favorite John Chowning piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm

Even if it's not as noir as it sounds I can totally picture that, Mr. F. Do walking basslines follow you around?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm

thanks NGH, and thanks for being here! I've tried to keep up with Wright's discography, but it's overwhelming

@Doug 45s don't hurt people, only people blah blah blah. Hello sir!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm

@JtotheK
Happy to oblige.

@Little Danny
In your hands, 45s are holey.
Avatar 📉 Swag For Life Member 11:18pm

@Danny -- I enjoyed the headiness, too, especially the John Chowning.

Some family member at Christmas wore one of them necklaces featuring a metal (or real plastic one dipped?) center-hole adapters for 45s.

JtotheK:

note to self: it's been a while since George Braith 'extension' lp has been on the turntable...give a listen soon!
Avatar 📉 Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
JtotheK:

from my internet research:
George Braith is a soul-jazz saxophonist from New York. Braith is known for playing multiple horns at once, a technique pioneered by Roland Kirk. Braith is credited with the invention of the Braithophone, two different horns (straight alto and soprano) mended together by extensions, valves and connections.
  11:38pm
Pete from Melbourne Austraila:

Sorry Danny, thats Laughing Soul by George Braith, on Prestige, features Grant Green, and Little Flame is a lovely gem
Avatar 📉 Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
JtotheK:

i wonder how many braithophones are in use today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm
Little Danny:

J2tK, that's right! I saw Braith play live with one o' them in the early aughts.
Avatar 11:42pm
still b/p:

Noooo, LD (going back a bit), no crate-diggers or vast-music-brain-filers in the family that I know of. The particular sister just seemed to find novelty, nostalgia and distinction in her jewelry choice -- a token of growing-up years.
Avatar 📉 Swag For Life Member 11:45pm

great show this evening, Little Danny -- thanks!

Pete from Melbourne Austraila:

Love the Amos Milburn, track never heard that one before, and was a hugh fan way back in the late 70's as a young R&B collector, he always had a killer band and dunno who his guitarist on this one, but wow!! Grat show as usual, thanks Danny
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm

Thanks all! Pete: I thought of you during that Milburn solo. Don't know who the guitarist is either, though, alas
