Yes definitely hard G for Gillian. I met her at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and I asked her if she came from Kentucky because of her pronunciation (as a singer) and she totally dashed my fantasies by saying "California." But actually she is a genius at writing instant "authentic" folk classics.

I listen to WFMU for the DJs' personalities as much as the music. I remember when Daniel Blumin had a 3-hour show on Saturday nights and would just ramble on and on with his epic mic breaks.

Whoever is complaining about DJs talking on WFMU need to scram. Hit the road. Get a life. Stick something much larger than an elbow in their ears.

Here's your explanation of the Cristina song: "An altered version by No Wave singer Cristina was available briefly in 1980. However, it offended songwriters Leiber and Stoller, who sued and were able to get it suppressed for some time. Produced by August Darnell, a.k.a. Kid Creole, this version was eventually re-issued in 2004 as a bonus track on a Cristina compilation."
