Pledge in honor of LP Hiss!

Is this the Antique Phonograph Music Program?
  3:15pm
Joshua K:

Is a double mouse a pledge level, or do you have to go up to 1k? Just wondering.
  3:16pm
Looms:

C'mon Kurt and Tamar! Empty each and every wallet around!

@Joshua here are the pledge levels:

Just burned out my eyes trying to do the .gif screen grab and review the last year of MN Jeff's work. stared at it for a couple minutes straight trying. need eye drops.

Any Japanese Canine/Bovine translators out there??

still b/p:

The opening of More More More is a remarkably fast identifier. And I've quoted the song's main line many times. Why does such a song have such powwwerrr?

I grabbed/plucked the gif dozens of times.

Had to look it up. More More More was 1976. Starting to feel a bit...... old..... all of a sudden....

BodegaMan:

MN Jeff - whoever has the ziggystardust paint kind of looks like W. A little more like Jeb if you ask me.
  3:35pm
Caryn:

@hamburger: Dog is going "wan", which is one way to represent a bark in Japanese, so essentially, it's "woof". The cow is presumably going "moo", although モー might be better.
  3:38pm
BodegaMan:

another quick glance makes the ziggy-dust paint look like Rush Limbaugh. Ugh, that guy should be muzzled for what he said to Fluke the
Georgetown Law student. Makes me sick thinking that people actually nod their heads along with that guy.
  3:39pm
BodegaMan:

My math answer was 666!
  3:39pm
Caryn:

I mean, the cow's kanji sounds like "moo" when you say it, but the onomatopoetic way of writing a cow's moo in Japanese tends to be モー.
  3:40pm
Danne D:

Rooting for someone else to win a prize btw - don't wanna be a prize hog just wanted to give thumbs up to Kurt and Tamar :)
  3:44pm
Joshua K:

Is it weird that I have a spreadsheet with every pledge I made and it calculates the totals
  3:47pm
Danne D:

@Joshua K - it's totally reasonable. Better than my half-assed method of posting numbers with my comment posts!
  3:48pm
das:

What was the name of that Celine Dion guy book again?
  3:50pm
Danne D:

Whoa this is amazing!
  3:53pm

@Joshua K and Danne D: well, I have a file with all the pledges I ever made to the station. Then again, it's only my tenth year playing this game, and I only pledge a few times at best (and only once this year, to my embarrassment)

Tamar:

The Celine Dion 33 1/3 book is by Carl Wilson (the Canadian writer). Thanks for listening, and keep on pledging! That and nine other awesome 33 1/3 books can be yours if you are a lucky winner for the grand drawing: $15 or more gets you in the running.

Das, we got two pledges in a row from you for the same amount. Intentional?

Tamar will you be gracing the stage of Hoof n Mouth this year? :)
  4:05pm
das:

Whoops, I only meant one.
  4:05pm
Mary Wing:

Davy Jones didn't sing lead on either of these songs, but they are FABULOUS covers!
  4:06pm
Paul McCartney:

For crying out loud, Davy Jones didn't sing "Clarksville"! It was Micky Dolenz.
  4:06pm
Julie:

I went through a Peter Tork phase when I was a little older ;)
  4:06pm
Julie:

Nope those were Mickey songs
  4:06pm
Caryn:

So what albums do the other 9 grand prize books concern?
  4:06pm
Bronwyn C.:

Mike Nesmith for me!
  4:07pm
Julie:

My ears perked up when I heard Nick Mason but I have no idea what it was in connection too.
  4:08pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Mike Nesmith was their leader.
  4:09pm
Caryn:

Nesmith was always my favourite Monkee. Jones and Tork fought it out for no. 2. But I never cared for Dolenz. He could sing okay, but when he tried to be funny, he tended to go way OTT and just start gurning. Had no time for that.
  4:09pm
still b/p:

Mike was called "Woolhat" in the UK.

Surprised how automatically all reports called Davy the lead singer, when Mickey was lead on most of at least the early stuff and I think on far more of the hits, including most of the ones that still show up in oldies rotation.
  4:10pm
das:

Dolenz by blind fury sissy slap
  4:11pm
Julie:

Mike is a Texan and hard not to love :)
  4:13pm
Julie:

All Davy did was sing, and he was physically the front man.
  4:13pm
Caryn:

@still b/p: well, you kinda have to call Davy the "singer" of the group, since the other alternative is "tambourine player" and that seems kinda dismissive... And "Daydreamer Believer" is the song I hear the most nowadays (hell, even U2 do it at their concerts), and Davy sang that, so...
  4:14pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I can see Mickey being all, "Ergh. Now's not the moment to make a big deal of it...but, y'know..."
  4:17pm
Julie:

Mickey was Circus boy No one listens to Circus Boy
  4:19pm
Danne D:

From one of Mickey's first tweet after Davy's passing: http://t.co/iIJHkglv
  4:20pm
Julie:

Micky played the first synthesizer on a rock recording. (the 3rd Moog over sold)
  4:21pm
Cecile:

yup, Julie.
I liked Mike when the Monkees were first on the air, and his solo stuff, but his subsequent litigious nature has kind of soured me on him.
  4:23pm
Julie:

He also had the best hair. even with the hat
  Swag For Life Member 4:24pm
Tamar:

Here's Kurt being all downtempo doom, but no, it's Monkee this and Monkee that for you. We may have to veer the show in a drastic direction to get your attention.

And Mike did have the best hair. Why the hat?
  4:26pm
Caryn:

That's just how we roll, Tamar. If Kurt plays something peppy, we'll probably start talking about cannibalism or something.
  4:27pm
northguineahills:

Sorry, actually not listening, just checking in. I'm in the middle of penning some freelance proposals, since I really need to find work ( I haven't worked since July) So, no Multi-mice pledges this year, just a tee-shirt. However, if start work soon, I'll drop more scratch this summer. Cheers, -Aaron.

Swami from "Head":

To allow the unknown to occur and to occur, requires clarity. And where there is clarity there is no choice. And where there is choice, there is misery.

he was inventing grunge. It just took a while to catch on.
  4:30pm
Caryn:

Loving the Love!
  4:30pm
Cecile:

ngh, that is all right.
I would pledge some more, but a Kickstarter thing I contributed to actually met its goal! So I gotta pony up. That's a first...
  4:31pm
Paul McCartney:

Davy Jones sang on that Nadja clip.
  4:34pm
northguineahills:

If the marathon was in March like last year, I'd probably be in better straits. (I also used the last of my $ to take my gf to Iceland, Berlin, and Mexico, and got engaged).

Almost done w/ this last proposal, hope to catch the half hour of the show. Salud!

Seriously, "stack of 33 1/3 books" needs clarification, since that's 10 books from a possible 84. Besides the Dion, what are the other 9 on?
  Swag For Life Member 5:11pm

The 33 1/3 books, by subject: Love/Forever Changes, Television/Marquee Moon, Celine Dion/Let's Talk about Love, Rolling Stones/Some Girls, Slayer/Reign in Blood, Velvet Underground & Nico, Black Sabbath/Master of Reality, Prince/Sign O' The Times, Wire/Pink Flag, Radiohead/Kid A. You could win them all with a pledge of $75 or more.

Thanks, Tamar! It's a very cool prize from a very cool series of books.
  5:16pm

The people with money to pledge seem to have a sense of drama. They wait until near the end of the show, or the last of that show during the marathon, or the end of the marathon, and then put on a kick at the end to increase the suspense.
