Smaller particles were broken up. Tea leaves will also speed the extraction. Stirring or moving the teabag on the little string Will also Quicken the process. Almost all of the caffeine will be extracted in 3 to 5 minutes. Leaving the bags in for longer will make the tea more bitter, but not stronger.

	10:10am Zack in Maine: The easiest/laziest approach is to put a big spoon ful of turkish-grind coffee (a finer grind than esspresso) into a cup and pour boiling water over it. Stir mindfully and it is ready in about two minutes. If you do it right the grinds will all sink to the bottom so you won't get them in your teeth. I drink it black, it's a little harder with milk but doable. I make tea the same way (with loose teak). The important part there is NOT to stir it because that releases the tannins which as bitter. Also, caffeine is but one chemical in these beverages, but it is the whole combo that gives these drinks their kick.

	10:10am Zack in Maine: The easiest/laziest approach is to put a big spoon ful of turkish-grind coffee (a finer grind than esspresso) into a cup and pour boiling water over it. Stir mindfully and it is ready in about two minutes. If you do it right the grinds will all sink to the bottom so you won't get them in your teeth. I drink it black, it's a little harder with milk but doable. I make tea the same way (with loose teak). The important part there is NOT to stir it because that releases the tannins which as bitter. Also, caffeine is but one chemical in these beverages, but it is the whole combo that gives these drinks their kick.
