	♥ 8:19pm spodiodi: I got in trouble for covering the "G" in "Gas" while standing in line to have my spelling quiz graded in first grade and showing it to Cecelia Regan (the student standing behind me), who immediately raised her hand got the teacher's attention to squeal on me... she thought, as i had hoped, that the word i was trying to form by using my thumb to dover the "G" was "ass" - as they sound alike... anyway. Hard to forget. Maybe the first time I was ratted out to a teacher :-B too funny.

When she first started working there, all the women were smoking, so she did too. She told me she wanted to fit in. Eventually she quit, but that line in the monologue reminded me of her telling me about her time as "a smoker."

I remember people still smoking indoors at my earliest jobs, but it wasn't long ago that they finally banned cigarettes from bars in Oregon, really marking the end of an era.

Of course, as was the style at the time, I smoked for years and years too. (I think I started when I was 18?) But it got less and less fun as time went on, and the cost got astronomical. By the end, I didn't really want to smoke anymore. I still have plenty of other vices, but: I quit the hardest one, so I figure I can take a break for a while.
