Mine are simple bluetooth devices that pair with the cars ecm.
Battery in device on the rime goes dead it can be replaced but tire shops would rather charge you for a whole new transmitter & valve stem assy.

Dealership had a friends BMW convinced she needed to bring it in for a "reset" at $150 a pop.
