I made it to Bleecker Bob's a couple of times late 80s when I was on work trips to New Jersey from Germany, and picked up some good stuff. But I wonder if he was as unfriendly in real life as he acted in the store :D. Speaking of work trips to NJ, that's how I first found WFMU, back in Uppsala College days. We used to listen in the lab, and when I found out the fund drive was on during one visit I drove over and met some of the team back then. Took broadband internet for me to rediscover it, and now my internet receiver is tuned to it pretty much constantly.

I recall an underground record shop from late 80's early 90's in Greenwich Village (Literally underground) with some reference to Batman, or batcave, or cave, etc. Anyone else?

for me, it was real records in houston. owned by ronnie bond (really red). my senior year of high school, i stopped by the store almost every day after school. ronnie would give me some money to go get him some food, and then say "and get something for yourself." so, i saved my lunch money, ate after school with ronnie, and then bought records with the lunch money. he turned me on to so much great music. he also hooked me up with a few people when my first band fell apart, and those folks became my new band mates. transformative experiences inside the walls of that shop.
