	👻 9:09pm Austin Rich: That Avengers album, from the late '90's, includes "new" songs recorded with a band she assembled then, but performing songs she remembered the Avengers would play in the old days, but never recorded. The rest of the album includes live cuts that were heavily bootlegged, but never easily available. No problem, Mr. Fab. I am always doing Sheena's bidding.

	👻 9:27pm Austin Rich: I've seen Motörhead four times. Three times in Portland, once in Seattle. All four were incredible. At the Portland Shows, Lemmy praised Portland the whole time, for the selection of strip bars we had. In Seattle, he complained the whole time, about the lack of strip bars in Seattle. Lemmy in many things, but in some ways, he is a very simple man.

	👻 9:30pm Austin Rich: They were! And they were great on The Young Ones. As a VERY young man, I completely discounted Motörhead, thinking they were a dumb metal band. But as I got older, I realized that they are a dumb metal band in the same way the Ramones are a dumb punk band, and then it clicked. (Seeing them live also sealed the deal.)

	👻 9:47pm Austin Rich: This "History of Portland Punk" comp was assembled by Greg Sage of The Wipers, and is essentially a run-down of all the singles (and a comp) that he released on his old label, Trap Records. I think the CD is out of print, but you can order a CDR of it from Greg direction from Zeno Records, his current label. (Or, at least, could a few years ago.)

	👻 9:52pm Austin Rich: The Causey Way is essentially the band "Man Or Astro-Man?" with a different front man, and I think one different member. Causey's gimmick was that he was a cult leader, and was offering people "musical" salvation. Their stage show involved robes and fans throwing dollars on stage and a gun and other weird cult props. I saw them once and they were... sort of terrifying.

	9:52pm Mr Fab: Purists may beef with me, but I sure like my vanilla-flavored Jim Beam whiskey, a glass of which is currently in hand. Hey, it's LIGHTLY flavored, quite subtle. Not some overly-sweetened concoction. On the rocks, yum.

	👻 9:55pm Austin Rich: Shawn, of 9th Life, the drummer, now runs a bar in Eugene, Oregon, called The Cowfish. They have events most weekends. I played a show there with Mark Hosler pre-pandemic, and Shawn hosted us very well.

	👻 10:11pm Austin Rich: Joe! I'm very excited about that interview on Cheek In Tongues! Listening to Sheena at random times is usually a delight. There's often songs I have forgotten, or have never heard.
	👻 10:13pm Austin Rich: At the record store I work at, tapes are selling like crazy. I sold a used Bauhaus tape for $12. The kids was STOKED, and thought he was getting a deal. If you still have tapes from the 80's and 90's, and you aren't attached... you might be sitting on a little cash.
	👻 10:14pm Austin Rich: I think about this Jad Fair / Yo La Tengo album probably once a week. But I try not to overplay it, as I like it a little too much. But this song was just TOO appropriate.

	👻 10:16pm Austin Rich: As a child, my parents taught me to play this song on the piano, and would ask me to play it for their friends. "A Rich Kid Playing If I Were A Rich Man!" my parents would say. Someday, I'll be telling that story to a therapist.

	10:16pm MHLee: Jan has implied the existence of a spectrum of Sheena shows, I like to consider mine in orbit near sounds under 64 not allowed with some tracks that board on World's Worst Records... that show is close to Miss Mei's show etc... it would be fun to graph... I bet if you data mined you could make a bunch of venn diagrams based on song overlap

	👻 10:20pm Austin Rich: My parents were "a-religious," and I didn't know anything about any kind of faith until I starting reading about it in High School. I found the Jewish Faith very fascinating as a young man.

	👻 10:38pm Austin Rich: I liked my History of Rock and Roll class, because there was a lecture on the influence of Country, and I wound up really loving a lot of old country I'd never heard before.
	👻 10:40pm Austin Rich: In doing my research today, I was shocked to realize that there is a lot more footage of Spike Jones than I thought... in film! He was in several movies I haven't seen, as himself, or they cut to the band and they're playing. So I have a new winter mission: track down these movies!

	👻 10:41pm Austin Rich: When this Sharon Jones album came out, I fell for it HARD. But I haven't listened to it much in the last several years. I need to get back into that habit.
	10:42pm MHLee: I vistied the country hall of fame in Nashville and honestly found it much better at talking about the evolution and story of a genre than the rock hall

	10:45pm Mr. X: Brother Ray. I used to listen to KGO news talk host Ray Taliefero. He was friends with Ray Charles, and they called each other Brother Ray when Ray Charles played on his New Year's shows.

	10:48pm MHLee: It is but it does talk a bit about it in the early influences section... it talks a lot about Alan Freed... but yeah it's more glitzy over substance other than the featured exhibit. The Country hall may have Elvis's Cadilac but also displays talking about the movements and counter movements through country history
	👻 10:49pm Austin Rich: You could actually do you and everyone around you a huge favor by just listening to all of "The Formative Years" discs that they put out covering Little Richard's early career. Every part of those discs are classics!
	10:49pm Mr. X: A friend recently talked me into watching the Ken Burns country music doc. I have spent a lot of time since then educating myself and putting together country playlists.

Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.

	👻 9:09pm Austin Rich: That Avengers album, from the late '90's, includes "new" songs recorded with a band she assembled then, but performing songs she remembered the Avengers would play in the old days, but never recorded. The rest of the album includes live cuts that were heavily bootlegged, but never easily available. No problem, Mr. Fab. I am always doing Sheena's bidding.

	👻 9:27pm Austin Rich: I've seen Motörhead four times. Three times in Portland, once in Seattle. All four were incredible. At the Portland Shows, Lemmy praised Portland the whole time, for the selection of strip bars we had. In Seattle, he complained the whole time, about the lack of strip bars in Seattle. Lemmy in many things, but in some ways, he is a very simple man.

	👻 9:30pm Austin Rich: They were! And they were great on The Young Ones. As a VERY young man, I completely discounted Motörhead, thinking they were a dumb metal band. But as I got older, I realized that they are a dumb metal band in the same way the Ramones are a dumb punk band, and then it clicked. (Seeing them live also sealed the deal.)

	👻 9:47pm Austin Rich: This "History of Portland Punk" comp was assembled by Greg Sage of The Wipers, and is essentially a run-down of all the singles (and a comp) that he released on his old label, Trap Records. I think the CD is out of print, but you can order a CDR of it from Greg direction from Zeno Records, his current label. (Or, at least, could a few years ago.)

	👻 9:52pm Austin Rich: The Causey Way is essentially the band "Man Or Astro-Man?" with a different front man, and I think one different member. Causey's gimmick was that he was a cult leader, and was offering people "musical" salvation. Their stage show involved robes and fans throwing dollars on stage and a gun and other weird cult props. I saw them once and they were... sort of terrifying.

He was in several movies I haven't seen, as himself, or they cut to the band and they're playing. So I have a new winter mission: track down these movies!

The Country hall may have Elvis's Cadilac but also displays talking about the movements and counter movements through country history
