	👻 9:10pm Austin Rich: Yeah, I had to order a CD player for my new computers, which don't have any, and that was a good excuse to get a spindle-style CD player, so I could play all my 3"ers.
	9:10pm postconsumer: I bought an adapter and cringe every time I inject it into my hard drive...
	👻 9:11pm Austin Rich: A couple years ago I did an all 3" disc show for Thanksgiving. And I did an all "biz-card-disc" show a few weeks ago.
	9:11pm postconsumer: so far they've all come back out fine. I used to run them in analog before that.
	9:11pm Krys O.: I still have an XTC 3" CD from Oranges and Lemons. BRB.
	9:13pm Krys O.: Make that just the box from that XTC disc. Hmmm. Oh, well.
	👻 9:14pm Austin Rich: There's a bit of a 3" revival among experimental folks, as the size and length is almost perfect for most artists these days. With QR codes and other digital elements, 3" discs sort of have an unlimited canvas, but fit in your pocket. I've made a few 3" cdrs that were a hit at the merch booth afterwards.

	👻 9:16pm Austin Rich: Dylan Houser also goes by Formaldehydra, and will be performing at NorCal NoiseFest this year. Dylan performs under a number of names, and I've really enjoyed all of their releases.
	9:17pm postconsumer: I love the way it looks. I performed on an album put out on three-inch cd in '02. I'd totally do more if I wasn't afraid most people wouldn't be able to play it.

I know of at least four different people who sell lathe-cut discs that you can have your original music put on, and I'm sure there are many more. I've had three records made on lathes, and they sell pretty well.

	👻 9:28pm Austin Rich: Don Haugen is using a contact mic on a chimney brush, and is "plucking" the bristles... running it through FX, etc. You can sort of see them on the cover art.
	👻 9:29pm Austin Rich: Like a regular record, but in mono. And more fragile. A lot of turntables can't play them, as the tone arm isn't heavy enough.

	👻 9:31pm Austin Rich: Don Haugen has been making experimental music since the late 80's. He makes incredible drones, very excellent videos. He and I did some shows with Mark Hosler when Mark and I toured a while back.

A combination of collage, new experimental records and other bits and bobs, Mid-Valley Mutations is a tour through the mind of Austin Rich, who has been broadcasting in some form since 1998. Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.
