A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Love that Miles too. Yesterday on WKCR heard a classical Miles piece that blew me away. Something called “Will o' The Wisp DRBook Of Jazz Chapter 15: Sketches Of Spain.”

Woods - the films I mentioned are not particularly violent, more suspense and atmosphere than shoot-outs. It's been a while since I watched, but I can't remember anyone actually getting killed or hurt. But as Mrs Y reminds me, there is some casual violence, like face-slaps, which might still be too much.

Drag Me... is great due in so small part to the fact that none of the characters up to and definitely including the lead have any redeeming qualities whatsoever. It's very subtly funny that way.

But you can bet your life on it that after all the press conference bluster and vapid and cowardly punditry condemnation of anyone in their same political and financial class (e.g Trump, Clinton, Jamie Dimon, Lloyd Blankfein, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, etc) no one will legitimately be held accountable for anything.
It’s a two -tiered justice system, with Liberty and Justice for Some. And the sad truth is that some is the 1%. Doesn’t matter what color political jersey you wear. If you’re a connected politician, a Wall St Economic Terrorist or a murderous cop you’re immunized from “rule of law.”
Nothing will happen to that dopey conman fraudster Trump. Because there’s just as much criminality to be dug up on the people doing the accusing that not one of them will dare push it too far, for fear of exposing themselves too.
All empty bluster. Guaranteed.

Biden is absolutely just as corrupt. Goddamn, he’s a Republican (lite) anyway, who joined the Blue team. Doesn’t take much to pull on a different jersey over your back.
Everyone of the top people in the Democratic Party are just as beholden to the same corporate criminals that own the Republican Party.
This is all a charade, a news cycle headline grabber, that will be forgotten about a few months from now. And if it isn’t they’ll just trot out decrepit Joe again to repeat a speech he’s proactive over and over, written for him by a writer on the payroll, so that it can be kicked down the road hopefully a little further down the next time.
I’ll just finish with this. The fact that in an ongoing gooabal pandemic America still can’t get its citizens universal free healthcare, while continuing to botch the whole thing with respect to not enough available testing and mixed messages - BY BOTH PARTIES, should tell you everything you’ll ever need to know about the legitimacy and efficacy of American governance. Until then no one will be able to convince me that we don’t live in a banana republic, no mater which party is in “power.” Albeit one with limitless cable tv, endless cheap goods made by child slave labor in SE Asia, plenty of fast food franchise chains, gleaming new banks on every corner and a fascist surveillance system that makes the Stasi and KGB look like babies.

Assuming that’s a precursor to the hopefully imminent (and not miscalculated) snowstorm being forecasted to begin tonight. Fingers crossed for the snow…
Boil this conversation down: in an atmosphere of anxiety and mistrust, some of it legit, the best way to mitigate the fear of “losing our democracy/this is fascism/we’re a nation of law and order” would be to guarantee universal healthcare to everyone. In that case you’d never, never, have to worry about another Trump or Jan 6 happening again. Taking the sting off economic woes and the feeling of being ripped off by insurance and Big Pharma companies wouldn’t magically cure racism. But it would most definitely steady things and get People’s faith restored in government. Speeches, posturing and other performative nonsense ultimately feed the powder keg.
I’m not at all down with that Sandy Hook “staged” thing. I don’t doubt and am rather certain that the government, under the aegis of the FBI and CIA, has run all kinds of psy-ops and assassination programs (there’s plenty of evidence, Operation Gladio, Fred Hampton, MLK, Malcolm, Bretton Woods, etc).
Misinformation from QAnon, Fox, MSNBC and CNN is rampant.
A good adage from Mark Twain seems an appropriate reminder today:
“If you don’t read the newspaper you’re uniformed.
If you read the newspaper you’re misinformed.”
Thanks as ever, Trouble. Love that painting on playlist page too!

Otherwise, I agree heartily that free healthcare would severely undercut a lot of the rank-and-file (i.e., the citizenry) who back the GOP. You want a strong country? Free healthcare and education for all. For starters.
