December 18, 2020: Our train of perpetual epiphanies
This radio show denounces explicit and implicit racism. It condemns the culture of White supremacy, which enables the brutalization of Black people and other communities of color. It supports Black Lives Matter and the movement it stands for. |

It is in my opinion a miraculous film. Starring Björk, whose performance is unforgettable.

She won the Cannes Palme D'or for it. Movie is in the Lars Von Trier's vein of emotionally manipulating the audience, so it works, you cry your eyes out but at what cost. Also, he notably abused Björk while shooting the movie.

Doug Schulkind:
I know none of the behind-the-scenes story of the making of the film. Björk's inexperience as an actor is pretty obviously exploited. And the movie makes me bawl uncontrollably.
Webhamster Henry:
Sylvia (France-NYC):
@webhamster Henry yeah, that too. Also, you'll never see David Morse the same way again after watching.
@Doug if you ever need to cry, that's the movie to watch!

There are said to be more than 10,000 Hindus living in the Pittsburgh area. The Sri Venkateswara Temple was built here in 1976.

Tak Shindo is wonderful. He was imprisoned with his family in America's shameful internment camps during WWII.
Chai is nice Stanley, but can you pour bigplanetnoise a triple espresso, pronto?

This is on the German label MPS. The tune was composed by Manfred Schoof who is on trumpet here. And the terrific French player Barney Wilen is on tenor sax.

A festively-dressed Rosetta Tharpe should greet people at all train stations around the country with some playing of holiday and non-holiday numbers.
btw - There was a recent comment conversation about the meaning of surry in "surry on down." You know what Rosetta did for that train station gig in the rain? I'd forgotten --- she surried on down!
