December 11, 2020: Something is in the air
This radio show denounces explicit and implicit racism. It condemns the culture of White supremacy, which enables the brutalization of Black people and other communities of color. It supports Black Lives Matter and the movement it stands for. |

- i say understandable not because i'm okay with it - it's sad...but because of how many times i've witnessed siblings that didn't even communicate with each-other for years, or for the last decades of their lives.
(ie) my father didn't seem to give a crap when his twin sister died. (also his only sibling)

As to Phil Woods, I think he had his own recognizable style, albeit heavily indebted to Bird. Many *tried* to imitate Parker, but few actually succeeded well enough to make good music. In my humble opinion!
Doug Schulkind:
Billy Gardner was on organ. Grant Green on guitar!
Now everyone, without Googling, try to guess who is on alto sax here playing alongside Gene Ammons' tenor sax!!!
Doug Schulkind:
I generally give Phil Woods a break, but I thought his Parkersonian imitation on that cut was absurdly unabashed.
