	2:17pm Mark Gillespie: I can't say I'm familiar with that tune so...I guess not. My favorite album is the first, Meet The Residents.

	2:19pm Herk Hilligoss: This really is one of the greatest Christmas albums that I turn to each year.

	2:21pm Herk Hilligoss: I think I first found out about you by Otis Fodder's Cool and Strange Music CD review of "Hooked on Casio." Do you still have that keyboard?
	2:22pm Mark Gillespie: More Residential inspiration. Inspired by the musical deconstructionism of cover tunes on albums like Third Reich and roll.
	2:24pm Mark Gillespie: I still have the Casiotone380, but got rid of the MT 520 when I had to move recently.
	2:25pm Herk Hilligoss: Maybe it was a bad idea to have The Clock Strikes host, it made this episode harder for listeners to find I think, until it show up in the archive. Oh well, there will be more episodes of this stuff :)

	2:29pm Herk Hilligoss: I have to ask, was The 12 Days of Christmas inspired by The Conet Project or Short Wave Number Stations?
	2:34pm Mark Gillespie: It does sound like short wave number stations. I hadn't thought about that. It's basically breaking down the song to it's most mathematical component. 12 Days is basically a countdown.
	2:36pm Mark Gillespie: Zatumba was inspired by Screaming Jay Hawkins and the Tasmanian Devil from the Warner Bros cartoons.

	2:42pm Mark Gillespie: I guess I just start with a basic "musical" theme and fill in the cracks around it with whatever seems to work at the moment. Samples, sound fx, other themes. Trying to make it flow as much as possible.
	2:44pm Herk Hilligoss: The Merman Suite is also one of my favorite of the CDs. A masterpiece :)

	2:55pm Mark Gillespie: Ha! Most of them scratch their heads, but it hasn't led to an intervention or anything. But i've been interviewed a couple of times, reviews for my stuff popped up in numerous zines and I've gotten quite a bit of airplay over the years. I've also sold far more CDs than I ever thought I would.

	3:07pm Mark Gillespie: Frightville was just an attempt to create an all purpose Halloween album using samples, sound FX and public domain stuff.
	3:07pm Herk Hilligoss: I think several of your albums like Axo Sonac made my top 10 lists of the year. I love all of them really.
	3:09pm Mark Gillespie: I think you might have been the first person to play my stuff.
	3:10pm Herk Hilligoss: I really do hope you release more. I would always jump for joy when your CDs came in the mail :) I loved the art designs and concepts. I'm a very physical media collector.
	3:11pm Herk Hilligoss: I love the physical object I mean. I still have many of them that survived my horrible car accident in the snow, but they have some water damage etc.

	3:43pm Herk Hilligoss: I had to stop The Clock Strikes when work took over. I became harder to juggle two shows. Every now and then I turn into Herk like Jeckle and Hyde. Perhaps I'll bring it back when life slows down or have it take over Lost Media Archive completely for a spell :)

	3:49pm Mark Gillespie: Ha, I'll see what I can do. The decline of physical media sales is one of the reasons I haven't released any CDs for a while. Also a lot of sales came from C & SM magazine and when that stopped publishing I kind of stopped too.
	3:52pm Herk Hilligoss: Well you definitely have an outlet here. I would still purchase CDs from you and I think the other DJs would appreciate your music even in file format.
	3:52pm ironybread: Mark - do you have a BandCamp page? Putting albums on BandCamp is super easy and you'll never have to deal with any physical media. When you put up a zillion albums, it's all the better! Brian Fullerton Whitman has a zillion of them up and I'm having a blast just slowly listening to everything in "preview" mode
	3:53pm Horror Hillbilly: And Bandcamp seems to be a pretty good company so far. They make a profit and pay artists (Spotify does neither)

December 18, 2020: (No Archive for this episode) A 2 hour Experimental Christmas tribute to favorite WFMU inspired CD-R label "Oddest Recordings"
Playing the entire Christmas catalog of Oddest Recordings mixed with tracks from almost every project created by artist Mark Gillespie. A favorite DIY label from my days at Oddity Rock Radio on KWCR 88.1 FM in the early 2000s. - BC Sterrett (aka Herk Hilligoss) **************************************************************************************** I created the Oddest label in 2001, somewhat inspired by some of the cool and strange music I was hearing on WFMU at the time. I had been doing experimental multi-track recording for years and thought it would be fun to release some of my weird sounds under the guises of different artists, so Oddest Recordings was born. I’m a professional graphic designer/illustrator, so I designed all the covers myself. It was a lot of fun and I got more recognition than I ever thought I would, including air play on WFMU." - Mark Gillespie

	3:43pm Herk Hilligoss: I had to stop The Clock Strikes when work took over. I became harder to juggle two shows. Every now and then I turn into Herk like Jeckle and Hyde. Perhaps I'll bring it back when life slows down or have it take over Lost Media Archive completely for a spell :)

	3:49pm Mark Gillespie: Ha, I'll see what I can do. The decline of physical media sales is one of the reasons I haven't released any CDs for a while. Also a lot of sales came from C & SM magazine and when that stopped publishing I kind of stopped too.
	3:52pm Herk Hilligoss: Well you definitely have an outlet here. I would still purchase CDs from you and I think the other DJs would appreciate your music even in file format.
	3:52pm ironybread: Mark - do you have a BandCamp page? Putting albums on BandCamp is super easy and you'll never have to deal with any physical media. When you put up a zillion albums, it's all the better! Brian Fullerton Whitman has a zillion of them up and I'm having a blast just slowly listening to everything in "preview" mode
