uhhhmmmm, I'm a in my mid-40s, and I have Paul Williams records, and read quite a bit of them (but that can go for any song writer/recording artists since the the age of the wax cylinder.)

My preferred singers of Williams songs are, in no particular order, Biff Rose and Kermit.

I was a little surprised at how little footage I was able to find of Williams performing music. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but it hasn't made its way to Youtube.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Funky16Corners:

And this, right here is one of my most beloved, favorite songs of all time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
Little Danny:

Very much enjoying this first listen of "Someday Man." It almost sounds like a follow-up Holy Mackerel LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
Funky16Corners:

I have said, perhaps hyperbolically, that Someday Man is the Forever Changes of soft pop. Full of masterful songwriting that surprises and pleases at every turn.
Avatar 3:35pm

@3:32 Funky16Corners: Hey Larry! you know what, I have no personal history with his music - but this album is now on my shopping list. What can I say, right up my alley.

@Photocopy - Excellent! Another convert comes to the altar!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm

@Brian - Here neither. He was all over TV, but was regarded more as a personality than a songwriter, though Im sure his songs made him quite wealthy

Do you know if there is affordable vintage vinyl of this? Some Reprise albums are not that expenisve - I have found pearls For Swine's The Use of ashes for a tenner (don't remember if it was GBP or euros) - and it was a 1970 original (1st pressing?) in MINT condition.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
Funky16Corners:

I think you could probably get one for 20-25 bucks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
Funky16Corners:

It took me a while to find an affordable copy of The Use of Ashes
Avatar 3:43pm
Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@3:41 Funky16Corners: hmmmm, maybe the guy who sold me my copy was either generous or did not know what he was doing, this is maybe 3 years ago. This was from UK via discogs - but I have heard of their albums being sold for even cheaper here in Finland (original or otherwise old pressings)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm
Funky16Corners:

I think with Pearls Before Swine, the audience is limited, but their record sales were even MORE limited.

Just an old fashioned love song...Dixieland style.

Someday Man took me a while to find a clean press. Thankfully Paul's later albums are super affordable and such a big admirer of his songwriting.. and voice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm

Ha, this Punch album is awesome too. A new-ish find just a couple of years ago, saw the goofy grins on the cover and picked it up for something like a five-spot. Shelf-keeper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm

Yes! I enjoy his singing, too. Gilbert Gottfried does a hilarious impersonation of Williams, that he did when Paul was on his podcast
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm

Yeah SquigY0 most oldies stations are classic hits stations that now play mostly 80s MTV music with some 70s and 90s mixed in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm
Funky16Corners:

Even the real oldies stations are obsessed with the Top 10. You never get to hear the stuff from 11 to 40

70s and 90s music I mean.
