Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm

Spector was always on shaky ground - & liked guns too much.
Cosby came off all self-righteous - & was a serial drug rapist for decades - & denies it to this day - trying to defame victims - didn't kill anyone - but more nefarious just yuck. I feel sorry for Spector. Not Cosby - tho' I don't know what's behind his patholgy - racism, hard upbringing - no idea !! The Abuser is most often the Abused, say the experts... It's a good point tho' that the Arsonist is often the one calling the Fire Department... Like Richard Priyor's widow said Cosby was all self-righteous about naughty comedians - & now look...
  7:20pm
Christopher Lynardakis:

That was so nice!

@Granny I've become pretty good at separating the art from the individual. If I was unable to do that, I might dislike a lot of artists that I enjoy.

“Let’s Do It Again”, directed by Sidney Poitier. The “non-sequel” to Poitier’s previous feature “Uptown Saturday Night”, which was made with much of the same crew and with much of the same cast (Poitier, Cosby, JJ Walker)

@Granny I just decided long ago, to separate the art from the person. I began to realize if I didn't do that I couldn't watch Woody Allen movies for example, which I really enjoy. Just as an example. Did those films I loved all of a sudden become garbage because the guy is an a**hole? It's hard, but I made that realization long ago.

As a person who has survived abuse by beloved creative heroes, it is extremely painful to sit there silently while everyone worships or apologizes for the abuser

@Granny- I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you've been able to find an outlet for the pain. Sending love your way...

K in Chicago:

Granny, I am truly sorry to hear that you have been through that. There is no excusing abusers. For some people who have made mistakes, it's different, but for people with a pattern of abuse over their whole lives, who would never want to make amends, there's no "separating the art from the artist". If you can do that, it's shitty art.

But - he wasn't.
It is said none of us are what we are @ our worst.
But there's too much victim shaming. & f*ck that sh*t!
& too much idolatry. Yeah, you're right.
Of course - I think there are more & more Creatives who want the best & to express from a true Source.
Otoh - it's shocking how many bad news are being exposed.

I suppose that's true in Society generally - & some of them happen to be Artists. Perhaps it's that simple. Washington had slaves. This is reality!

If the Abuser was the Abused - it's about ending the cycle.
I see Justice as a lot like Medicine: If something is endangering the rest of the body, if may have to be 'surgically' removed. But removing is not the cure for the source... Where does it come from??

Holy jesus, from the wikipedia page: "The park entertained over one million visitors per year during the 1980s, with as many as 12,000 coming on some of the busiest weekends.[3] Park officials said this made the injury and death rate statistically insignificant. Nevertheless, the director of the emergency room at a nearby hospital said they treated from five to ten victims of park accidents on some of the busiest days, and the park eventually bought the township of Vernon extra ambulances to keep up with the volume.[3]"
