Checking in early! Hah, missed it last time....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01am
Meghan:

hahaha, morning ParUbi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02am
Sem:

Good morning, Ms. M., ParUbi. Dense fog here on the shores of the Bay of Fundy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02am
Meghan:

morning Sem! I love the Bay of Fundy update.... I can see it in my head!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03am
Meghan:

It's overcast here so that could be partially why too! Do you live right on the Bay?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03am
ParUbi:

Googling images of the Bay of Fundy, and boy is it BEA-utiful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am
Meghan:

It really is up there. Was up there last summer. My last vacation.... wahhhhh. I hope not last ever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09am
Sem:

I live on an estuary. Fifty rivers flow into the BoF, because of the high tidal range, the rivers are stopped from flowing out and the salt water surges inland. In the case of the Annapolis River, the *head of the tide* is 15 miles inland. Twenty nine feet of tidal range where I am.

Meghan:

Wow, that is so cool. I wish I got to see more while we were up there. The CAT closed their route due to the docks, so we couldn't get to Acadia, so we had to drive in and out of Halifax instead. LOTS of pine trees. THAT is where Christmas is from!

Stanley:

Hi Meghan, Sem and ParUbi.
As much as I love Wake n Bake, I'm working on a difficult client issue and the usual madness over on the other side is very distracting, so I was pleased to see you on the Drummer. I wish you a Fantastic Friday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am
Meghan:

Morning Stanley!! Hopefully you can concentrate better here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14am
ParUbi:

Smooth sailing in these parts, Stanley, it's a nice alternative
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15am
Stanley:

Yes, your sets are longer and less frenetic.
Good to see the couples on the beach are self-distancing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am
Sem:

Good morning, Stanley.

This Bananagun music is reminding me of a recent indie release, can't put my finger on it...

Here's to second alarms and coffee trees !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am
ParUbi:

... "I Celebrate my Fantasy" by the Homesick-- that's the one that Bananagun reminded me of

The Talbot Brothers of Bermuda is a prized LP that have too Meghan! Two lovely girls sold it to me at a yard sale about 30 years ago for about 50 cents. The beautiful cover was so attractive to me that they got all excited and said they'd been singing and dancing to it since they were small children. I hesitated, and asked if they were sure that they wanted to sell it, because it seemed like a real treasure to them too, but they insisted that it had to go. It's in mint condition, and it really is great !! I love it. That was a lucky day. Happy to hear it's appreciated elsewhere.

Interesting how this guitar sounds sort of psychedelic, like Quicksilver Messenger Service or something. I love the cross-pollination that happens in music. Who knows what records that guitar player may have heard at some point in his life that made him want to play like this?
  8:05am
Mark R:

Meghan, I consider you FMU's resident African music connoisseur/curator. I've been turned on to so many brilliant artists by you and your show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06am
Meghan:

Morning Mark R! Music in that area, Ghana and West Africa, had a really funk and soul feeling to it. Marijata had Pat Thomas in it who really lead that sound... so good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06am
Meghan:

awww, you are too kind Mark... thank you
  8:11am
elwyn:

hey everyone

just got home from the supermarket.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13am
Meghan:

Hey Elwyn! What did you buy me for dinner?
  8:15am
elwyn:

carrots, onions, herbs, pasta. no junk food.

i made french onion soup for the first time this week and even though I made it wrong, it was so tasty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am
Meghan:

haha, how did you make it wrong?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am
Doug Schulkind:

If French onion soup is wrong, I don't want to be right.
  8:19am
elwyn:

1) i didn't stir the onions enough and instead of getting a nice caramelized glaze, it was just a burnt patch on the bottom

2) didn't use an excessive amount of cheese and didn't bake it all together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21am
Stanley:

Stuff coming out of Djibouti I likes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21am
Meghan:

haha right Doug?!

Oh Elwyn, the secret to onions, slow and low and butter!

Morning y’all

Sorry I’m late, I guess I needed to sleep in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am

Sudanese Arabic, if I'm not mistaken.
Quaise katir indeed.
  8:27am
JakeGould:

Hello
  8:28am
Mark R:

You have to put a piece of toast floating on top of each bowl and sprinkle cheese on top of that and heat it under the broiler to melt it.
  8:33am
elwyn:

i dunno about you being a spring gall with allergies tormenting you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am
Doug Schulkind:

Ah, that unmistakable Konono sound!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am
Meghan:

Yeah the allergies get me in spring and fall, but the weather is much better!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning, Meghan and park patrol.
  8:40am
JakeGould:

At least the fog in NYC — at least that is my rationale — is tempering my allergies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43am
Meghan:

Humidity is 86%. No wonder... ugh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50am
Doug Schulkind:

It's not the heat, it's the humanity.

Speaking of humanity, an awful lot of tuneful humans are scheduled to join us on GIVE THE DRUMMER SOME, coming up next on the stream.

Meetup here: wfmu.org...

I prefer that water in liquid form, thanks

Mark R:

We've got window air conditioners in the basement. Clearly today is the day I have to lug them all upstairs and get them cranking. Oy, my back. Well, worst case my doctor will prescribe some groovy pain meds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52am
Meghan:

hahaha, ahhh yes... joys of joys summer at its finest. Raise a glass of rose and block it all out!
  8:54am
JakeGould:

Small other stuff in the world interjection:

Whoa! Twitter just this morning tagged the Drumpf’s tweet that read “…when the looting starts the shooting starts.” as “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence.”

Now back to not that world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55am
Stanley:

That terrible sitcom but the theme tune did have a good rhythm. Thanks Meghan, have a good day.
  8:56am
Mark R:

@Jake At the same time he issued an executive order that demands social media control their content. The master of projection strikes again.
  8:57am
JakeGould:

@MarkR: Nope. He signed that order yesterday; what I describe is from the past few hours. Twitter actually has hidden that tweet with the language I describe.
  8:58am
Mark R:

Yeah I know, but still--within 24 hours, he posts something that clearly would violate any decent guidelines, if they existed (I'm looking at you, Facebook.)
