Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm

Same buckle?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm

@Brian - I think it is, which is one of the reasons the 45 is so expensive, multiple constituencies vying for it

Probably not. But full belts -- studded with logos, different designs, etc. -- range from $12 - $25.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
Funky16Corners:

I think a lot of it is trying to make comic books "suitable" for adulys, who make up a big part of their audience. The Batman TV show was a reflection of a kids product blown up into something bigger

Good hot dogs, assuming there is such a thing, can be more or less peppery, more or less paprika-ish. My kids won't eat anything but the most bland dogs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm

Must be a thing with hot dogs out of the NY area, don't recall having one I felt was too peppery.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm

I love a slightly spicy hot dog
  4:39pm

Not *too* peppery, but just a hint, enough to turn off kids. IIRC, Hebrew National has a slight kick, for instance, maybe Nathan's, too? Relatively speaking, I mean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm
Brian in UK:

Preferably one with 90%+ meat in it?

Once you put enough mustard and sauerkraut on, doesn't make much difference what's under it. But, I'm partial to Nathans dogs.

  4:42pm

Out here we have Casper's, both take-out joints and retail in the supermarket. Snappy. Then there's a joint near the Berkeley campus, Top Dog, that does all manner of dogs and sausages. Yeah, mustard (HOT mustard) and sauerkraut!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm

Did Paul McCartney produce this or was it (scratches head) Gerry Bron?
  4:47pm
Dean:

One of the best hot mustards is from Philippe near downtown LA.
https://www.philippes.com/store/hot-mustard-chile-peppers

Still another is at Johnnie's Pastrami on Sepulveda Blvd. Pastrami snobs poo-poo Johnnie's, because they (gasp!) steam thin-sliced pastrami, add a slice of Swiss, and serve it on a French roll. It's heaven, especially topped with their very hot horseradish mustard. Many's the time I thought my sinuses would explode.

Hard to get pastrami that matches my preferences from my youth. Katz's (which I haven't had in a long time, I'll grant), Second Avenue Deli (but it's been inconsistent), and Lox, Stock, and Deli, which I really have found reliably good.

Well I hope you folks have got that hot dog stuff off your chests. Messy eaters!!

I skip the French dip and go for lamb with blue cheese with nose-sploding slather of the mustard.

Another great show, Larry. Glad I do not have to dust your record collection.

It's his fault, doctorjazz. He played the hot dog ad.

@Dean - We have a big deli about an hour away that has my favorite hal-sour pickles. I miss them,,,

HALF SOUR

(reminds me, I haven't actually heard an Adam Schlesinger tribute, just a cut here and there. Not enough for a 12 hour tribute, but I always really liked his music. Guess I can do it here. Likely was done, just didn't catch it...)

Is that Lox, Stock and Deli? Used to go there a lot (it was close to where my Mother in Law lived. Then she passed. Not that close to my house).

@Doc No, Harolds

Dean:

When I lived in Southern California, Johnnie's was a drive across Los Angeles from east to west, about a half hour, 45 minutes. Now I'm 400 miles away, but I confess I've flown into LAX precisely to head up Sepulveda for the pastrami/mustard/pickle fix.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm
Doctorjazz:

Ah, Ive heard about Harolds, have to get over and try it one day.
