Still don't know where that ticket is though.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm

@granny that's my second favorite kind of problem. Having too much money is my favorite problem. Unfortunately, the latter is never a problem I've had the opportunity to experience. Would not mind trying though. I'd give FMU a big piece of it.

Some bars and restaurants in NYC are open, for takeout and delivery only. Supermarkets and grocery stores, drug, hardware are open.

Same here, minus the hardware.
Avatar 5:27pm
TDK60:

David, how is the medical situation in the Leipzig area?
  5:29pm
JakeGould:

@David: In NYC that is happening at many food places since people have to wait for “to go” orders and nobody wants anyone waiting inside. But notoriously crammed corner grocery stores and delis and such still let people in.

What is also creepy — but understandable — is how the few places that are open have some very contracted hours. Like 10:30am to 6:00pm.

Also, due to lack of real traffic many restaurants are just shutting down completely for now. I mean if you are only selling like 20 take out orders per day, there’s not even a break-even point.

@David: True. But one notable take out option that is missing in many Brooklyn neighborhoods are Chinese restaurants. Many that are mere hole-in-the-wall places thgat you would think could rake it in nowadays are closed (in my opinion) due to anti-Asian backlash. Very sad that has to happen in the middle of this.

It is odd, as there are usually about 25-30 people around me. Will stay this way for most of April, I suppose.

That is a big question: How long will these measures need to continue?

@TDK60: Did you hear about the number of unemployment claims nationally as well as in NY state? It’s crazy. Once the dust settles from Coronavirus I’m confident there will be at least one major march of some kind. I mean read this…

“The New York State Department of Labor last week received over seven million calls from those seeking to file unemployment claims as a result of coronavirus-related shutdowns. Typically, the office gets 50,000 calls a week…” gothamist.com...

Oh yeah, unemployment. Guess I'll be applying soon.
I heard it slowed down a bit in California. I think we're waiting for a vaccine to be available before going back to normal, right?

Sorry to hear that, Chresti.

Vaccine time frame is 1 to one and a half years...antiviral medication could be sooner, from what I've read.

JakeGould:

@chesti: The way I understand it is a viable vaccine might only arrive around September. But I think a more important tool is simply broad, universal testing. I’m pretty confident I had it in February based on the weird extremeness of my symptoms. Thus I should have anti-bodies… Thus I cannot be infected again…

If testing could be expanded with confidence, then a lot of people wondering if they are infected can have some piece of mind. And at least be able to count themselves as people who can safely work with others.

Anyway, thanks for the tunes David.
