Thank you so much for being here Nick and all the DJs at WFMU! I just got back from stocking up on necessities (tried not to hoard anything) after getting an alert an hour ago that Los Angeles is on lockdown except for essential services and errands. I think all of California is too. There actually weren't that many people there. It's good to stay calm. Love this music now. Stay safe everyone!
  12:06am
Bradley:

Until April 19th

JakeGould:

Wonder if traffic in LA will be better?
  12:06am
Bradley:

Ha, yes I can tell a difference already! Nice silver lining.

Bradley:

For those of you in CA, lockdown goes into effect at midnight tonight PST...

trying to keep on keeping on but thanks

Bradley:

One common thing I've noticed is that a lot of people I know are referring to this weird, strange, odd, interesting. It's actually not that out of the ordinary given the long history of humanity. Maybe we're all detached and observing this as it's happening which makes it look weird.

One great thing to do while staying in: explore the WFMU archives in depth. Fun fact: the first entry in Nick's archive is exactly 10 years ago today.
  12:14am
Bradley:

Cool! Happy 10-year anniversary Nick!
  12:14am
JakeGould:

@Bradley: It is strange because many of us have never experienced biological threats like this where there is no clear ending.
  12:15am
Nick Name:

its given me a slight window into what things would really be like if the shit hit the fan big time, it would be devastating
  12:16am
Bradley:

Yeah, exactly Jake and Nick. I think we've just never lived through something like the Spanish Flu or Bubonic Plague.

Hi, Granny. Your last chance to swim out to Alcatraz for a while.
  12:21am
JakeGould:

And to be honest, part of the reason this disease has happened is the globe has made China a center for manufacturing. Meaning that in the U.S. we have crazy things like environmental and social protections. In China, working people to burnout and seeing basic sanitation as a “best practice” leads to conditions where diseases that spawn.

If China actually even had the worse environmental protections the U.S. ha, conditions would be better and then maybe lessens the chance of things to spawn.

The reality is the Western world loves cheap foreign labor and hates when that labor demand basic human rights.

If we found life on another planet, we’d figure out a way to get them to “work” for us.

mariano:

Yeah, in my 51 years I've never seen anything remotely like this, and I remember a couple of typhoid and malaria scares when I was a kid in Honduras in the 70s. On a happier note, happy 10th anniversary, Nick!
  12:26am
JakeGould:

Anyway, everyone holding up okay? Can’t sprint a “stay at home” marathon!
  12:27am
Bradley:

Ha yeah, can't sprint a marathon...did you come up with that? I think I saw someone on one of the other show comment boards say that.

Personally I'm fine, thanks for asking @JakeGould. I work from home anyway so no break in my routine. Worried about people in service/hospitality jobs here in New Orleans though, especially some family of mine. They're screwed and it's such a large part of the economy.
  12:29am
JakeGould:

Yes, I did. I trademarked it and plan on making a line of inspirational pillows, mugs an tote bags based on that.
