Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Jason, I hear you. But I'm busy, so not chatty :-)
Avatar 11:04am
Jason Elbogen:

Hi, Jan. No problem!
Avatar 11:05am
Mr Fab:

Happy Frid-yay! Butt on office chair, headphones on, ready to float on an ocean of sound.
  11:18am
mzzz:

I liked Wild in the Wind (sounds of 68) on the last show but the vinyl was $$$. Allow me, I made the copy out from your show.
Avatar 11:23am
Mr Fab:

hey mzzz, I think I've recorded stuff off the archives once or twice. Them wacky WFMU djs play stuff that you're just not gonna find anywhere, so what can you do?
Avatar 11:39am
Mr Fab:

Dream Lake Ukulele Band is such a fantastic band name. And it wasn't ever trying to be a great band name.
Avatar 11:42am
Jason Elbogen:

Dream Lake put out at least 4 self-pressed LPs... possibly as many as 9?
Avatar 11:46am
Thibault:

Hi Jason, sorry to be late!
Avatar 11:51am
Mr Fab:

Although i don't advocate killing any Beach Boys, the name "Mike Love" does pop to mind...
Avatar 11:53am
Jason Elbogen:

Did Charles Manson try to kill a Beach Boy?
Avatar 11:53am
Mr Fab:

Thibault, I trust you brought a note excusing your tardiness?
Avatar 11:55am
Mr Fab:

Actually, I think Charlie and the Boys got along famously. Unless he turned on them at some point? Not a Manson expert, even tho i grew up not far from his pad, Spahn Ranch.
Avatar 11:57am
Jason Elbogen:

I knew there was some Beach Boys/Manson connection, but I can't remember (or never knew) the details...
Avatar 12:00pm
Mr Fab:

Dennis Wilson was a Manson supporter. He helped record Manson's music, and even got the Boys to cover one of Charlie's songs "Cease To Exist" aka "Never Learn Not To Love." Which, in all fairness, is a good song.
Avatar 12:02pm
Mr Fab:

This is funny. I like how the messed-up off key singing is by a band called The Talent.
  12:08pm
Martinibomb:

Hey Mr. DJ!
Avatar 12:11pm
Mr Fab:

Put a record on
Avatar 12:11pm
Thibault:

@Mr Fab: actually, I was late because I was at school, discussing such issues as notes for tardiness.
@Jason: yes Manson was a musician and he wanted to be produced by one of the Beach Boys I heard.
  12:21pm
Martinibomb:

off subject but Crass just put 16 track unmixed versions of "The Feeding of the Five Thousand" -- That seems really interesting to me that a punk band from the 70s releasing their album unmixed for fans to remix??
Avatar 12:23pm
Mr Fab:

Hmm, are there acapellas and instrumentals that you could use for mashups/sound collages?
  12:23pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab I assume so? I haven't listened to it yet. here the link: crass.live
  12:24pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab time for some RIAA style Crass vs Herb Alpert ;-D
Avatar 12:31pm
Mr Fab:

"Do they owe us a living, 'course they do, 'course they do" over "Tijuana Taxi" actaully does sound pretty good in my head, ha ha.
  12:35pm
Martinibomb:

I like that song too catchy well both of em' are heh
Avatar 12:36pm
Mr Fab:

"The Fall: 1982, 6CD Boxset " = 6 disks for just one year?!
Avatar 12:38pm
Jason Elbogen:

yep, 6 discs, one year
www.cherryred.co.uk...
  12:40pm
Martinibomb:

I'm a big fan of that british TV show, "Ideal." Mark plays Jesus Christ
Avatar 12:43pm
Mr Fab:

i can't even imagine that...

Hey everyone!
Avatar 12:49pm
Mr Fab:

HI, it's a ParUbi party!
Avatar 12:49pm
Mr Fab:

Do people confuse you with Pere Ubu?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
ParUbi:

I think they sometimes think it's a reference, but it's not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
ParUbi:

Just extended initials Pa-Ru-Bi
Avatar 12:59pm
ARB:

I thought it was a reference too, hi everybody!
Avatar 1:01pm
Mr Fab:

Speaking of names from initials, hi DJ ARB!
Avatar 1:03pm
ARB:

Hi! getting ready for work but get to catch some of the show beforehand
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
ParUbi:

Well, it was kind of a neat coincidence, and kind of why I capitalize it that way.
Avatar 1:07pm
Mr Fab:

Sorry I missed your show ARB, (and Ursusla1000's) yesterday - my wife fractured one of her feet, and my daughter broke one of HER feet with in unrelated accidents within 8 hours of each other! How weird is that?! Not a happy day yesterday.
Avatar 1:08pm
ARB:

oh no! how terrible
Avatar 1:08pm
Mr Fab:

Oh man, school band covering "ironside" theme, fantastic.
Avatar 1:23pm
Mr Fab:

Quincy Jones did the theme song, the first TV theme using a synthesizer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh, Mr. Fab! That's awful! Hope everyone's doing OK now!
Avatar 1:32pm
Mr Fab:

Avatar 1:33pm

Avatar 1:34pm

I just read about the twin family accidents.... Sorry to hear, Kevin.
Avatar 1:35pm

I had a sea urchin spine removed from my foot last year, it was inside the muscle for 8 months while i limped and waited for it to absorb naturally.
Avatar 1:39pm
ARB:

This song so heavy and good!
Avatar 1:41pm
Mr Fab:

Li'l Fab got li'l crutches. Don't know if Mrs Fab will need any.

A sea urchin spine, Owwww. Sorry to hear that. That's what you get for twistin' in a tidal pool.
Avatar 1:42pm
Mr Fab:

Yeha, that Johnny Guitar was real cool. Kept threatening to turn into a death march.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
Rich in Washington:

I am still nurse, concierge, and chauffeur for my wife, who's healing magnificently.
Avatar 1:43pm
ARB:

@Rich, so happy to hear she's healing well!
  1:44pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab just read your note about family emergencies yesterday wow! that is a crazy day
Avatar 1:46pm
Mr Fab:

Yep, sometime the universe likes to throw some absolutely random crazy shit your way, just for laffs.

Good to hear, Nurse Rich!
