Three hours of Jason? I holler don't stop!
Avatar 11:23am
Mr Fab:

that Johnny Oliver was "Malaguena" or one of those other great exotica standards. With what sounded like a swarm of insects behind it.
Avatar 11:25am
Jason Elbogen:

Johnny was (is?) a pretty suave-looking guy....
Avatar 11:27am
Mr Fab:

with a real suave lounge performer name, too. "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Mr JOHNNY OLIVER!"

hello Senor Fab!

Oh I love that O'Lyn Callahan record! So much great cheese on it.
Avatar 11:29am
Mr Fab:

Hola Ricardo! (Heh, didn't you used to go on the WFMU chat as Ricardo Montalban?)

That was I! That was my DJing OUT handle for a spell. That and DJ Simulated Woodgrain Veneer Jr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am
Rich in Washington:

I used to play O'Lyn's 2001 theme all the time.
Avatar 11:34am
Mr Fab:

"DJ Simulated Woodgrain Veneer Jr." - ha, the "Jr" at the end makes it.
Avatar 11:58am

The fact that there actually is a 'Cambodian Tribute to Iggy Pop' leaves me stupefied with glee.

"Monster Men" is a newer song, it's not off an Iggy album. it's the theme to a French kids cartoon show, believe it or not, named "Space Goofs." How do I know? My kid watches the show, and Mrs Fab & I were delighted to hear Iggy singing the theme.

Blind Willie Davis - why did every sightless blues singer have to have "blind" in their name? No-one else did that. You never heard from Short Paul Simon. Fat Cass Elliot. Bald Brian Eno. It's so cruel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Deaf Potato Washington was my fake old-time bluesman name.
Avatar 12:30pm
Mr Fab:

The Bible doesn't describe Jesus' youth at all. If jumps from his birth to the start of his ministry at around age 30. What the actual teenage Jesus was like we do not know. (tho i DO know about Lydia Lunch's old band Teenage Jesus and The Jerks)
Avatar 12:30pm
Domenic:

Hi! Jesus was also called the carpenters son. So Joseph, husband to Mary that was his professions. And Jesus wlrked at on unitil he was 30 and started his 3.5 year ministry!
Good show keep going.
Avatar 12:32pm
Mr Fab:

Ha, did you go to Catholic school too Dominic? All that stuff was drilled into me.
Avatar 12:35pm
Domenic:

Hi Mr Far. I enjoy the bible. Been going to the Kingdom Hall for years.

In a Gadda da Vida is a perfect lounge song... And he really was saying " In the Garden of Eden" ;')
Avatar 12:57pm
Jason Elbogen:

Forgive my ignorance, but I didn't know that ! (Goddadivida=Garden of Eden)
Avatar 12:59pm
Domenic:

You should google it... its what I was told bybrother t in law LOVES this song
Avatar 1:00pm
Jason Elbogen:

I knew Jesus was called The Carpenter's Son, but I never really followed through with the thought: That god is a 'carpenter'. Metaphorical or Union-member?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Rich in Washington:

I have a crazy German disco version of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. I should play it again.
Avatar 1:04pm
Mr Fab:

An inept lounge cover of Iron butterfly made even more wonderful by the fact that the singer doesnt know the lyrics and is just making up stuff.
Avatar 1:06pm
Domenic:

No just practical. Joseph had to work and earn a living. Besides after Jesus was born, Joseph and Mary other children. Brothers and sisters. It may have been a big family.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
Jan Turkenburg:

This sounds pretty much like the average Dutch youth choir in that period
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Jan Turkenburg:

with the obligatory flute LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
Rich in Washington:

This is fantastic, Jason!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I played a youth choir version of Summertime this afternoon on local radio, concluding a three episodes series at the end of the season.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm

This is one hell of a flute player!

hey Rich! thanks, Jan!
Avatar 1:32pm

Hi Linda! I've got a baritone voice, but I almost never sing - unless I want to do a Nick Cave or Joy Division tribute, I just don't have much use for it. After all, I like funny music.
Avatar 1:37pm
Mr Fab:

Daaaammn, some heavy heavy funk from this cat Dennis MacDavid. Aberdeen, eh? You don't hear much about the Scottish afro-funk scene.
