	11:27pm Dean: LD, I could sit you down and recite to you an almost endless list of examples of musical joy and beauty. Some of it is sentimental, some of it not. But I really feel there are a number of tunes in the canon that don't deserve the credit they've garnered. "Summertime," "My Favorite Things," and "Dock of the Bay" are among those failures. On occasion. somebody will cover them in ways that grab me, but mostly I find them cloying and cheap. No, JtotheK. I find those songs -- their melodies, harmonies, rhythms -- off-putting. Always have.

But I really feel there are a number of tunes in the canon that don't deserve the credit they've garnered. "Summertime," "My Favorite Things," and "Dock of the Bay" are among those failures. On occasion. somebody will cover them in ways that grab me, but mostly I find them cloying and cheap. No, JtotheK. I find those songs -- their melodies, harmonies, rhythms -- off-putting. Always have.
