Hi Little Danny, hanging out in the audiotorium. Have you felt any earthquakes lately?

I was in LA in '87, driving on Whittier Blvd. when it struck, and in '91 on the 42nd floor of a downtown skyscraper. I've been through many LA 'quakes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
Franco Twinkie:

I've never missed an earthquake in L.A.

Meaning you don't miss them? Or you've suffered all of them? Or both?
Avatar 10:42pm
Kris Holmes:

Chappottin “Sabor Tropical”, Orquesta La Corporacion Latina & The Conjunto Africa LPs were the ones outside of the known names that are in the short list to get filed. Otherwise, Barretto, Justo Betancourt, Cachao, Cesta All Stars, Johnny Colon, Willie Colon, Cortijo, Cheo Feliciano, Raphy Leavitt, Eddie Palmieri & Roberto Roena all predictably had their quality moments. I definitely have some filing decisions to make.

Hmm. Good question. I guess I'm non-plussed. In 1971 i jumped out of bed and grabbed the tv before it hit the floor, then went back to sleep. Later at school, A friend told me he had a tital wave in the swimming pool that jumped the coping and smashed his parents bedroom window.

In '87 I remember seeing the storefront windows rippling after I thought I'd gotten a flat or hit something.

I've never experienced an earthquake or a tornado. I'm tornado-curious, but the idea of earthquakes terrify me
Avatar 10:59pm
still b/p:

Only quake I've experiened was a mild one here in Maine, but still was startling quick shot of something like a vehicle impact on the building. The oil tank was still ringing when I ran downstairs several seconds later trying to figure out what the F.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
Franco Twinkie:

In '87 I had just got up and was in the bathroom taking a pee. I had been sleeping in the living room and the chandelier cut loose and hit the table right next to next to my bed. That day I was working on a Nissan photo shoot in an unreinforced brick building with a low ceiling. It was stressful.
  11:00pm
Dean:

Earthquakes are, mostly, overrated. Don't worry. Just a little shifting here and there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
Little Danny:

@Kris: I forgot about the Christchurch earthquake. That sounded too intense

I bought a burly filter mask, mostly for the spraying to come. But no, I don't want to get foolish with lead flakes and dust in the space...for anyone's sake. Some of the radiators just slightly patchy, but others flaking badly -- definitely not to be painted over. Agreed to do it cuz I need the hours/money, and don't want to bail and say owner needs a lead-savvy pro. Supposed to be complete in a week. You should see the the extra new tools and scrounged items I brought to MacGyver my way through the cleaning and scraping of the ribs and recesses.
