Cool Larry. I can never make it to your 9 am shows (not just Testify!) and rarely your noon shows. 10 pm is most convenient for me since there's nothing on but the news anyway.

Heya Larry and various Cars.
Avatar 10:27pm
still b/p:

I've commented before that my initial encounters with the debut album were not good. After hearing the demo tape tracks for months in local radio play, the record production sounded severely over-glossy, vibe-changingly stuffed and slicked up. Got accustomed, but at first it was, "Ohhh, now, boys, what have you done here?"
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:28pm

Granny, one time on New Years Eve we walked over to this place on 32nd Ave and Clement and had great dumplings. The place was empty, except for us. Later that night, a crazy violent man abused a shopping cart while we waited for the #5 on Fulton next to the park.

Avatar 11:19pm
northguineahills:

Been enjoying, Larry, will be leaving in about 10 mins, buenas noches!
  11:21pm
Dean:

The Cars, in my experience, which was '78 and on from when the first LP arrived, weren't pop in the way, say, Bay City Rollers or Alessi Brothers were pop. (Nick Lowe's "Pure Pop..." bit was a ploy designed to keep "Jesus" out of American markets. Nick Lowe, never mind Brinsley Schwarz, knew damn well he wasn't pure pop, either.) Of course, I don't abide strictly by genre designations. But calling The Cars pop just doesn't seem fitting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
Funky16Corners:

Nite NGH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
Funky16Corners:

@Franco - She had a really interesting career. Recorded that one album, was apparently very close friends with a young jackson Browne, then didn't record another record for decades
  11:28pm
Carmichael:

Ok, long lapse. Incredible playlist, sir!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
Funky16Corners:

@ Dean - I must disagree strenuously! I think the first two Cars albums are pop all the way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
Funky16Corners:

Thanks Carmichael!
  11:29pm

"Say Hello" appeared on a Cass Elliott album: https://www.discogs.com/Cass-Elliot-The-Road-Is-No-Place-For-A-Lady/release/1690541
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
Funky16Corners:

No kidding!?! I have to dig that up! Thanks Dean!
  11:30pm
Dean:

I suppose there's no point in disguising my distaste for The Cars. I listened to the first album multiple times, and then I stopped.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
doctorjazz:

I'd call The Cars pop with attitude (which is what they were shooting for). They didn't sell all those albums because of Ocasec's edge (only).
That Sneeches track was great, have to check them out.
  11:33pm
Carmichael:

Dean, I have a personal past with the Rollers. Give them som sympathy, or I will tell you my Grand Funk story again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm
