This board is more in line with the kind of communities that were around on usenet and whatnot when I first came online. The thing about modern social media I've noticed in contrast is how little actual engagement happens or is even possible. Like anything more than thumbs up and thumbs down is discouraged.

For subway phone zombies, I use my best train conductor voice and boom, "Step all the way in, please!" That wakes most people up. If they still don't move, I tap them hard on their backpack and earnestly boom, "Excuse me!" as I seek eye contact and smile slightly. They usually step aside in astonishment.
