Hi! I'm here. My computer is also here, but a tad sluggish. We will be starting shortly. Thanks for coming by!

Happy gloomy Record Fair Sunday, Jeff and all! Hoping this brings out the bargain hunters who'd otherwise enjoy spring weather.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02am
Jeff Golick:

Thanks, @listener james! And to you. Have you made the fair?

Q: If I come early today, does it make up for missing last week?
A: No.

My weather app says that there is a significant chance of rain every hour today. Then it summarizes the day's weather as "sunny." This seems optimistic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am
listener james from westwood:

@Jeff: Can't do the fair anymore, owing to the distance and unknowns on getting there not playing nice w/ anxiety. Kills me as I always used to volunteer for most or all of the weekend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am
Jeff Golick:

Yes, @Listener Gregory. Tech in action! Let the algorithm be your umbrella.

@ljfw: I feel you. I think the last time I went, it was when the fair happened in Chelsea. Intra-Brooklyn commuting isn't all that easy, either. The MTA isn't helping any of us, of course.

I guess that familiar New England refrain -- "If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute." -- is now defunct.

It's exciting to hear new music from the Art Ensemble, and the way that Roscoe and Donald Moye have assembled a talented group of characters around them to keep their legacy alive and growing. This track is excellent!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am
Jeff Golick:

I agree, @Mark R! So exciting; love those guys so much, and yeah, they've really made an effort to expand the group and include some great new players.

Fair warning: if you don't like this "Femenine" riff, you might want to check out and come back around 10:30.

I'm pretty sure I remember this Julius Eastman composition from back in the 80ies or early 90ies so. But forgot about the context.
