Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm

It's the music. Blowfly makes me loose. Eden Ahbez makes me sea swarthy.

oh my god! This is fantastic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm

Love. This. YES.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm
Webhamster Henry:

They were sick of Nature Boy already in 1948?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
Rich in Washington:

Nature Boy gets a shellac'ing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
Rich in Washington:

There oughta be an Eden Ahbez movie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm
Otis Fodder:

An Ahbez doc would be so very wonderful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
Otis Fodder:

Or bio-pic starring??? Who would/could play Eden?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I think a younger Donald Sutherland could have pulled that off
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

My partner just shouted "Matthew McCounaghey!! I bet he's a bongo hippie type!" :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm
Otis Fodder:

Yes, MM, first casting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm
Otis Fodder:

There was a TV movie with Ernie Kovacs played by Jeff Goldblum. That was a good fit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ok ... See I was going to say "Jeff Goldblum ... because Jeff Goldblum" so great minds :-)
  3:15pm

I need to see that film! I don't remember it. I love Ernie Kovacs

Moooog/Mogue - you have to match it ignorance level of the producers.

There *had* to be a Nature Boy Exotica ring comp, no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm

oops, didn't mean to shout! Hi!
  3:19pm
Martinibomb:

you guys are all so great at on-air chit chat. I still feel odd talking into a mic by myself and just want to get to the next song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
Rich in Washington:

I remember them using the Nat King Cole version in the end titles to that movie where Christian Slater plays a guy with a baboon heart. Can't remember the title of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

The one with Marisa Tomei?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm
Otis Fodder:

Serutan / Natures .... Yob / Boy
Avatar 3:21pm
spacebrother:

"Natures Boy" backwards.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm
Rich in Washington:

You're not alone, Martinibomb. For some reason, I have a real problem talking into a mic at home, of all places, but not live on the radio for some dumb reason. Anyone in my house knows what I'm doing. I don't know what my problem is (as usual).
Avatar 3:21pm
spacebrother:

Ya beat me to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Yes, GeorgyGirl! That's the one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm

Part of the joke is that "Serutan" was a laxative.

Oh man. Fuh King.

I'm sorry I missed serutan yob

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm

Speaking of pronunciations, it's a subject of conversation in my house, the proper pronunciation of Vietnamese Pho soup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

That movie *destroyed me*. Ooof. Untamed Heart
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
Otis Fodder:

Pho Queue! Ha ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
Rich in Washington:

Topical too, as Portland has been experiencing the long lines in front of hip restaurants thing in recent years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm
Otis Fodder:

I'm actually going to have Pho with a friend tomorrow. Perfect in chilly weather.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm

So *is* there a restaurant called Pho King?
Avatar 3:32pm
Mr Fab:

and is it in Phuket, Thailand?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
Otis Fodder:

I have a buddy here in Montreal, who goes by the DJ name of PHO King! Ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
Otis Fodder:

Also, in Quebec, Pho is always referred to as: Soupe Tonkinoise.

Petite Tonkinoise is a wonderful song by Josephine Baker.

Sen. Dirksen that is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm

I'm still here and listening :-) The music is sooooo soothing that I'm curled up in the armchair under a crochet throw just relaxing and quiet :-)

Nimoymania!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
Webhamster Henry:

I miss Nimoy .. and this kind of production!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
Rich in Washington:

Robo, aka Drew Dobbs recently did a great show of all Shatner and Nimoy tracks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
Rich in Washington:

Sen. Everett Dirksen plays himself in the great 60s film The Monitors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
Otis Fodder:

Robo is an old pal. He has a great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh, these L. Ron albums are so craptacular!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm

imPAAACT! I love how there's some kind of primitive pitch correction going on in this song.
Avatar 4:04pm
spacebrother:

That low note is almost worthy of Thurl.

Almost.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm
Rich in Washington:

I think it was put together posthumously. More like posthumorously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I see what you did there :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm
Otis Fodder:

Spacebrother, does this recording sound familiar? Been searching for this Scientology Hypnosis record for years, taped it off a friend in Reno in the mid-1990s and been looking for it since. It's odd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
Rich in Washington:

Hypnosis to improve your smoking?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
Otis Fodder:

It's Hypnosis for Life, Theta level or something?!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

What is that accent???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Rich in Washington:

Someone once told me that Scientologists are supposedly forbidden to sell or donate training material. Wonder if it's true? My wife found and bought me this huge CD box set of L.Ron 'teachings', and as she was standing in line, some man told her that, saying t was not even supposed to be in a thrift store.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Otis Fodder:

I've been trying to figure this out for over 20 years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Otis Fodder:

I've heard that too Rich.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Rich in Washington:

That accent sounds like that weird affected accent that fake mystics/channelers take on. Like George King, etc.
  4:11pm
Martinibomb:

I wish I had some of those old Ramtha tapes my mom used play. Those things were freeeaaky
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Rich in Washington:

I've got this batshit crazy recording from something called the Seattle Aquarian Society. This character channels 'ancient ascended masters' and they have these terrible fake English accents.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Otis Fodder:

Sadly, I only recorded off like 12 or so minutes for sampling from a friend in like 1994 on tape. Didn't take the whole album. Been looking for it for years and can't find anything online... yet. One day maybe.
Avatar 4:12pm
spacebrother:

Someone at the door. I'd have to hear it again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Rich in Washington:

Yeah, Martinibomb. For sure. JZ Knight/Ramtha also does a fake english accent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm

Everyone he tells me to close my eyes I think he's gonna stay me and/or steal my money.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm

Oh, those child hypnosis records are amazing! The guy reminds me of Elmer Fudd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Every time, I mean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
Rich in Washington:

I accidentally found one of those Life Records creepy child hypnosis records. They seem to be impossible to find on EBay, etc. It's that damn generic label name, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
Otis Fodder:

Ewww, I don't know those. Please play them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm
Rich in Washington:

I sure will. It's one of the ones that's sampled on Boyd Rice's Cleanliness and Order. BUt mine is about 'honesty'. Supposedly an entire series of them. I think my pal Toby/Dr. Zomb has some of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm

It's amazing she cooked all that with those ruffles on the sleeves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm

and before age of flame retardant ruffles, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm

So is your show this Wednesday, Rich?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm
Dave in Vermont:

I wonder if she gets lonely in that expansive white space.
Avatar 4:23pm
Mr Fab:

No, it's the Worlds Worst records show that will be on Wednesdays, but don't know when the debut will be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm
Rich in Washington:

Not yet. I need to get my studio space in order. All that. Pick my show name, etc.
I'm sort of terrified about it all. Soon though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm
Rich in Washington:

I haven't done a show from my house since like 2011 or so. I did a live show on something called Radio 23 until it folded, mutated into XRAY in Portland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

You'll be fine. You will. I'm genuinely looking forward to the two new shows :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm exotic???? That's a new one!!! :- D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm

It will be fun to do a show where all my records, CDs, tapes are again. No need to pack a crate, worry about what I'm bringing, forgot, etc.
Avatar 4:28pm

Is this the first week of this stream? how many shows have you done so far, Otis?
  4:31pm
Martinibomb:

@Rich but maybe your brain will explode with all the choices. The crate makes you focus
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm
Rich in Washington:

Maybe! We'll see! Don't expect themes or cohesive focus!

Tho things have only gotten more kinky, har har!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm

Crepitation contest! That's one of the records my wife found for me once. A ten inch one with a goofy cartoon cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
Otis Fodder:

3rd show today Dave. Still brand new, getting in the groove. This is the stations' 3rd week. Pretty jazzed about it all. Vermont, you so close to Montreal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
Otis Fodder:

Rich, you are an old pro at this mannnnn, you'll be great. Personally, very excited to listen!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
Rich in Washington:

What's gonna be nice is I've recently become aware of how much I self-censor what I play on my KBOO show, even though I am well within FCC safe harbor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
Otis Fodder:

Break out those Blowfly and blue-humour lps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
Rich in Washington:

Not that I'm going to play anything super-duper offensive. I just don't have to worry about the extreme political correctness of it all, and evoking the ire the irony deficient.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm
Otis Fodder:

Ah, so very true.
Avatar 4:39pm

"Break out those Blowfly and blue-humour lps" - what I've been adding to the stream!

Are you in MTL, Otis?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm

Yes, crazy weather today too here in MTL. Started to get dark out at 3pm and now at 4:40pm it's dark like it's 8pm. Talk about seasons!
Avatar 4:42pm

I was going to play the original of "My Boomerang Won't Come Back" and the bowdlerized version where "black in the face was changed to "blue in the face." Hmm.

To quote the old dirty blues songs about garbage collectors: "Stick out your can!"

No, actually you're right Georgy. Most of you do have your shows set up well before an hour to showtime. So its' good to check.
