	10:33pm coelacanth∅: i think i like the psychedelic era airplane best (despite thinking Grace was a poor choice of female singers) but some of my most favorite songs are pre- psychedelic era for sure.
	10:34pm Parq: Hope we're going to hear something from "Pointed Head". Always loved the high-octane version of "3/5" that kicks that album off (after the King Kong finish, of course).

	10:35pm Funky16Corners: Surrealistic Pillow is just one of the best albums ever. I bought my first copy when I was 13 or 14 and it has never gotten old for me.

	10:36pm Parq: I loved all of the JA stuff, up to and including "Bark" and "30 Seconds". Never could get into the 'Ship, no matter how many of my friends loved them. But in the 60s, my 45 collection had plenty of JA and the Rascals.

	10:39pm Parq: "Funny Cars" was the B side of "Somebody to Love" -- I remember having that "D'oh!" moment when, during my brief fascination with drag racing, I finally understood the title.

	10:39pm northguineahills: I got a lava lamp for xmas in HS (I was going through my funky polyester stage) and was bummed w/ a month of my now-wife moving in w/ me, it died. it was a fave companion.

	10:43pm Franco Twinkie: Well, They bought us tons of records but they drew the line at driving us to concerts . We had to figure out how to get there ourselves.

	10:46pm Funky16Corners: One of those albums where the ballads are so good they don't detract from the rockers a bit.
	10:48pm coelacanth∅: right. apparently both Kaukonen and Garcia himself give Jerry lots of credit for the album; but others dispute that.
	10:50pm Funky16Corners: The early Airplane stuff is right up there with the essence of the early San Francisco sound. The sound that made the world turn around and pay attention, and, unlike the Dead, they had genuine radio hits, which made them cross over to a non-freak audience, while still being fairly heavy and political

	11:02pm Franco Twinkie: For any one who has never seen it - Marty taking on the Hells Angels at Altamont is a 'must see' moment in rock music.
	11:02pm Funky16Corners: Actually, the first album with the name was Blows Against the Empire in 1970. They started using it in earnest in 1974

	11:08pm coelacanth∅: i was lucky my older brother got "the worst of jefferson airplane" when i was pretty young. that has 3? 4? tracks from surrealistic pillow so when i was a teenager i already knew basically what i was getting when i bought surrealistic pillow.
	11:10pm northguineahills: well, I released some ladybugs in my garden today, and they immediately swarmed me, crawling all over my clothes, hair, (hundreds), Didn't think they'd be active after being in the fridge. Cutest, ticklish insect infestation I could ask for!

	11:12pm Dean: High school fave for me was After Bathing at Baxters. Thereafter, I dug "Ride the Tiger" enough to pick up a used LP for a couple bucks four or five years ago. But now I love Hot Tuna, whose first album was recorded four blocks from my house in what is now an auto body shop.
	11:13pm Dean: And Hot Tuna is playing for three nights in town at the very end of the year!

(unless you're allergic to them) even bumble bees are low-risk. just don't move suddenly or trap them accidentally. and ladybugs do bite people sometimes. it probably doesn't hurt but some people have an allergic reaction to it.
	11:18pm Funky16Corners: I love bees, except for yellowjackets, who can go fuck themselves and twice on Sunday.
	11:19pm Dean: A father of a classmate of my second grade daughter's lives half a block from a Berkeley house dubbed "the tuna house." Rumor has it HT lived there for a time. Ladybugs in My Underwear has a ring to it.

	11:20pm northguineahills: better then ants in my pants that make me do the boogie dance. I pet honey and bumble bees. During the first cold snap of the winter, I find some in my garden, and breath warm air on them until they resuscitate and fly away.

	11:37pm coelacanth∅: i was wearing sandals and walking toward my girlfriend's parents house in pa (where they grow 'em big!) to meet them for the first time when an enormous yellowjacket got under the middle of my foot and couldn't get out - and i had to calmly un-do the sandal to get it out; but it did not wait to sting me...and keep stinging me.

	11:38pm Franco Twinkie: Last week I got home from the store and the outside of the back door had about a hundred wasps swarming - it's an end of summer thing. Well, I usually don't bother insects if the keep to themselves, but that's my back door their swarming, motherfuckers are finished! I walked across the street to the nursery and bought this high powered eco friendly can of who knows what, and came back and blasted the shit out of them. It was an all day project, but I won.

	11:40pm Erica: Bees are the reason why I don't swim in my backyard pool anymore. Around Noon-3pm they would fly around the pool so I can't get out.

	11:53pm Mike Sin: After spending so much of the past week listening to Marty Balin during his Airplane days, I kept hearing many phrasing and stylistic similarities between him and Felix Caviliere... Of course, Marty had the folky earnestness while Felix had the soul shout, but the approach seemed a bit similiar... took me only about 40 years to hear that but I just never listened to so much JA back to back previously.

Well, I usually don't bother insects if the keep to themselves, but that's my back door their swarming, motherfuckers are finished! I walked across the street to the nursery and bought this high powered eco friendly can of who knows what, and came back and blasted the shit out of them. It was an all day project, but I won.
