Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

i think the transition (upheaval?) is what prodded their creativity.
once Brian Jones accepted thathis little blues outfit was no longer his, and no longer a blues outfit, he explored a lot of new ideas. then Mick Taylor, being a more sophisticated musician than the others, added a spark right when they might've lost theirs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm
Lane Gray:

Marie, I'll agree with you mostly.
But what they were saying (in the musical sense of the word) managed to say the right things at the right time
Were others saying similar things but better? Yes, but they didn't have the distribution, or the name recognition
Others were better but they were pretty cool. (and I really dug both Keith's selections and what he had to say when he was on Desert Island Discs a couple of years ago)

The Oscar:

I agree, UM-- seeing it again on the big screen, I was astonished at how well it holds up. It was my first time seeing 2049, which I thought was a mixed bag, but probably the most interesting Blade Runner revival we were likely to get. Glad I saw it on the big screen though-- it is gorgeous.

2049 was a disappointment to me.

Goyim in the AM:

See, I expected 2049 to be awful, and was thus pleasantly surprised. Jared Leto stinks in everything, though.

I take it 2049 is a movie, not a year more than thirty years in the future?

Like probably everyone who's worked in a record store in Boston in the past 30 years, I've got my share of Peter Wolf stories.
