A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

new to me, love this.

“It's kind of a double bluff calling it the National Jazz Trio Of Scotland,” says Bill Wells of a group that is famously neither a jazz band or a trio. “I was trying to be kind of perverse about it, calling it jazz and then deliberately not having anything that actually related to jazz.” -from their bandcamp

Crime is a great vehicle for investigating all of our fears, from the elemental and base fears of violence to subtler fears of being an atomized person awash in an uncaring and indifferent world, caught in the jaws of a mechanistic society. It also is a great way to structure narrative.
