I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

@ngh: Lea Bertucci is playing in Paris tomorrow! I'm definitely going
Avatar 12:14pm
Mayuko:

Hi northguineahills! Thanks for stopping by!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
fred:

That Liaisons Dangereuses track reminded me of Farthest South's Neurim, a record I love to listen to when I walk home at night after a show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
listener james from westwood:

I'm bummed I'll be missing the Record Fair this year, and finally meeting you, Mayuko, during a volunteer shift or the like, but at least this time around it's not b/c of my damned brain; I'll be in Chicago for a conference!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
fred:

@james: what's that conference about?
Avatar 12:19pm
Mayuko:

@fred I never heard Farthest South - will def check out!
Avatar 12:20pm
Mayuko:

I can't make the record fair either, james! I'll be in Florida next weekend for the first time in my life. Can't wait to see birds there that I've never seen before. I'm sure there'll be some other chance I get to see you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Lyrid meteor shower tonight and peaks in the next couple days. www.timeanddate.com... Clear skies forecast around here, but it'll be cold at night.
  12:23pm
Rickwaukee:

Is this Taylor Swift? lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
fred:

@Mayuko: One of Yair Yona's projects (he's a listener and has been a guest on the station). Neurim must be in the station's library. The download came with English translation of the text, good for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
listener james from westwood:

Hah, thought that might be the Space Lady!
Oh, wow, you will dig the birds down in Florida! It's like another planet.
Avatar 12:24pm
northguineahills:

I thought I had heard all of Space Lady's material (obviously mistaken).

Hallo Mayuko, I'll be listening in the car as I head out for my Saturday visit to the record store!
Avatar 12:25pm
Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee I would love the world with this being Taylor Swift and HUGELY popular!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
fred:

I got Byambajargal Gombodorj to sign a record two weeks ago (YEAH!!!), but I think the previous time I got one was from The Space Lady
Avatar 12:26pm
Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee also congrats on your internet back.
  12:29pm
Rickwaukee:

Yes! Unfortunately, will miss next two or THREE Saturdays due to same no-service situation :-(

@northguineahills It's from her NEW album coming out soon!
Avatar 12:30pm

Hi maestroso! Thanks for listening!!!

Hi Mayuko and folks-Happy Record Store Day! (I try to stay out of record stores on Record Store Day...don't think I'll be able to make the WFMU record fair either, maybe Sunday...

@Fred, probably more as Aaron that moved to Florida, although her old bf played w/ my band as I was listed as ngh.

Ok, dropping off my car at the shop, thanks Mayuko!

I remember 16 thinking OK I don't have girlfriend - my destiny is OUT THERE not here, so fine. And then it wasn't Out There either. Sad trombone

Avatar 1:09pm
Mayuko:

Hi Mark!! Thank you for listening!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
fred:

At sixteen, I went to see Depeche Mode and was dumb enough to think "guest" was the name of the opening band. I went with an Italian friend though, and his father made the best pasta ever when we came back (weird that I remember the food more than the show)
Avatar 1:15pm
Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee It's really indeed that feeling of it must be out there not here, and then somehow you never seem to get to find it. And then maybe we need to learn to embrace the fact that it'd never be found? I still don't understand this aging business. (Though I'm not gonna play U2 here...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm
tmoyo:

Hi Mayuko and folks, was in bed lurking... the last track reminded me of Happy End, the track Sayonara America Sayonara Nippon.
Avatar 1:18pm
Mayuko:

Hi tmoyo! That weirdly makes sense! They should have gone on repeating Sayonara America Sayonara Nippon like 10 minutes too.
Avatar 1:19pm
Mayuko:

I think Deerhoof should cover this Francis Bebey song if they haven't done yet. I can totally hear in my head Satomi singing this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
fred:

I haven't seen Deerhoof in years! I should fix that.
I so endorse your vow not to play U2. I loved them back in my teenage years. Then again, they're why I got to see The Pogues in their Shane MacGowan years
  1:31pm
Rickwaukee:

There's a Golden Palominos album that starts with Dennis Hopper saying, "A little older, a little more confused" (line from a Wim Wenders film, The American Friend)
Avatar 1:32pm
Mayuko:

@fred haha! Me too, I came to like Edge's guitar a lot in my early teenage years. I hadn't really understood electric guitar sounds until around that time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
fred:

I see Satomi as a fierce woman not to be messed with. The first time I saw Deerhoof some guy tried to get on stage and she kicked him back without breaking stride
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm
Sem:

Listening while replacing deck-boards outside in the brilliant sunshine. Neighbours seem a little perplexed, maybe because of the volume AND the hammering? Lovin' the show, Mayuko. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
fred:

@Sem: you could switch to a Bryce archive after the show if you're not done. That would give them something to be perplexed about (blender and marbles not included)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Sem:

@fred: most excellent idea, god knows they've heard enough of Sinner's Crossroads, a favourite outdoor work show, especially in gardening season;-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm
listener james from westwood:

Caretaker! Likely will be looping his loops while flying west. Very calming.
Avatar 1:41pm
Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee Wim Wenders films seem to have many lines I can feel relate to. Can't remember which one but he wrote when you're a child you wonder "why am I me and why not you? Why am I here and not there" and I was like, man I still wonder that though me being child is a long long long time ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
david w:

I can't stop watching your comet graphic loop while I listen. Fabulous!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
fred:

Temperatures have been in the 80s over here this week. Ice cream time!
Avatar 1:44pm
Mayuko:

@Sem I was meaning to play pop tunes that could have pleased the neighbors too, starting with King Krule. I don't know what happened. But it makes me happy enough just have you like it!
  1:46pm
Rickwaukee:

We are all together. It would be more fair if we could swap around. Why can't I be you?
