	10:15pm coelacanth∅: first album i ever bought with my own money -"the beatles'second album", for a quarter at a friend's yard sale. i didn't like it much. it's much different than "meet the beatles", which gave me an epiphany when i heard it, at 4 years of age. (i think...could've been 3)

	10:25pm coelacanth∅: what album, g? i've been on a kinks thing for a few months now. that song made it to my "kinks konservatory" playlist, but i don't remember what album it's from. "something else" and "arthur" are big stand-outs for me, so far.
	10:27pm northguineahills: This weekend, I had to drive to Orlando, and one of the CDs I brought w/ me was WFMU's Kevin Nutt's dj premium (Can I get a Witness?), two CDs of African American preachers. I thought it odd both CDs were missing, and looked all over for it my car. After work, I went to the store, and the street lights hit said absconded CDs just right, so I found them. I'm not a religious man, but I did verbally exclaim "hallelujah, praise jesus!"

	10:51pm northguineahills: Scary, rw! I would be in mourning for weeks. Wife bought 16 antique harmonicas from Germany of various keys (from small to gigantic). She's a bit weird (i suppose like me, I reluctantly admit).

	10:54pm TDK60: Yes, that 12-string sound caught on! I've heard it wasn't 12-string on Searcher's 'Needles' but just their 2 guitars strummed with trebly tone. Something like that.
	10:56pm coelacanth∅: now that my ears are free of music i correct myself. i think the byrds' version of "hey joe" borrowed from needles and pins for the intro. (not feel a whole lot better)

	11:14pm TDK60: D. Berry sounds like a wah-wah guitar! But it's 1964 and Wikip says they didn't come out til '66. But same article says some geetarists got the same sound, earlier than the '66 wah-wah), using a Hammond organ pedal or a volume pedal, and article mentions this Dave Berry cut!

	11:36pm TDK60: G.B.O. The bluesier/soul direction. Stones, Animals, Spencer Davis, Them. There was also the folk scene influence:
	11:37pm Funky16Corners: Big crossover between the folk and blues scenes early on in the UK. Guys like Alexis Korner
	11:38pm TDK60: UK folk scene went back to early 50s. Peter & Gordon, Donovan, etc. mixed it w/pop. (Inlfuence in Fab 4, Searchers too. Okay free lecture break now.

	11:39pm coelacanth∅: i am of the opinion that Manfred Man deserves much more attention than he gets. (...that, the earth band; and, especially, "chapter 3".)
	11:40pm Funky16Corners: Manfred Mann is among the best, most sophisticated British bands of the 60s. Paul Jones is my fave UK singer of the era
	11:40pm TDK60: Coel: Yeah that early Manfred Mann - 1st LP rockin' blues as good as Stones. Then their middle period then their '70s prog-psych-hard rock, heee.
