Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from April 6, 2018 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

There's a guy up this way, annie, who's bought a few radio stations, and plays what amounts to that Music Of Your Life format a good part of the time. It's a crazy mix....Kenny Rogers or Celine Dion and then back to Perry Como or Margaret Whiting or Mills Brothers and then over to Pet Clark, all from his own music collection on these stations he runs just with his own money and requested donations.

Fairly interesting musical analysis of Over the Rainbow...unless "analysis" and "rainbow" is like matter and anti-matter for ya.

A journalist on Twitter: Nifty stuff Scott Pruitt wanted so he could run the EPA more effectively, per the NYT: -- A $100,000/month charter plane membership -- A bulletproof SUV -- A bulletproof security desk -- A motorcade with sirens for speedy urban travel

Dorothy LaMour in a Loony Tune reminds me of that scene in one of the Hollywood Restaurant shorts where she persuades Jimmy Stewart to dance the conga and then scares him so much with her sexy moves that he announces that Mr. Smith had gone to Washington.

So hard to hear this song without hearing the Firesign Theatre lyrics.

Also, the Looney Tunes reference *I* think of when I hear Dorothy LaMour is the one where Daffy gets knocked silly and each of the stars circling his head is a caricature of a different Hollywood actress.

Funny you mention Firesign Theatre, @The Oscar, because I thought of Peter Bergman while "It Ain't Necessarily So" was spinning. The intro music for his daily radio show during the '80s on LA's KPFK was a new rendition of the song, every day.

Haven't had TCM for too long now. On Easter family visit, yeah, sister's got it. And late Sunday felt good to find Holiday Inn playing. Fun and comfort-foodish film satisfactions, shticky, some it of with requisite dreadfulness, but worst is blackface number...such yin and yang in the old movie zone.

So my song list is about 5 songs ahead of what's playing-is my internet connection so slow?

I have no explanation, Doc.

@doctorjazz: Sometimes I fail to stop the player I'm using, for whatever reason. Instead, if I pause it and return minutes later, the program picks up where I left it, while the playlist moves on.
