	12:49pm Alex In Illinois: What was that mail order record club, where you first get a few albums free, then you have to buy one every month or they send you one that you might not want? That was my first record buying. I am pretty sure Bachman Turner Overdrive was in there. Later, I discovered local records stores sold records at lower prices.

	12:51pm Rich in Washington: a lot of my first album buys were on cassette. Cassette was king in the late 70s/early 80s for me. I don't think I owned a record player of my own until I was in high school and got my older sister's as a hand-me-down.
	12:52pm still b/p: I've heard Bacharach told Dionne Warwick he wanted her voice to sound like an instrument in phrasing and precision. I'm assuming no one told McRae that's how she "should" do it.

My brother and I signed up and got lots of records and tapes until our mom got fed up with the bill and sent them a threatening letter. It was really kind of a silly ripoff aimed at people with really indiscriminate musical taste.
