Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from February 2, 2018 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

And check the Peter Drake version of Lonely Street at 1:22:59 on last night's Explorer's Room for more voice & steel talk.
(The guy intro-ing a different Drake number in Dominick's video...cool gold lame jacket, but he doesn't wear it well.)

Dominick, I was subscribing to "Guitar Player" magazine when the Frampton album was a hit. They had a monthly column on DYI effects boxes, and were deluged with requests for a column on building a voice box. I saw Stevie Wonder using one of those on TV around that time, highlighting his reading of "Papa Was a Rolling Stone".

I actually just found Extricate at a Salvation Army store just about two weeks before MES' death.
It's not too bad. Most of the seminal lineup intact. It's his 'fresh from divorce' from Brix LP, so has an incredibly snotty cover of The Monks I Hate You, for some reason entitled Black Monk Theme.

@Rich: I'm with you on that timeline, tho. That Infotainment record was, I think, their first on Matador, and my thinking at the time was that the label just got there way too late. Meanwhile...two more decades.
