	7:13pm Dean: The Brain Box is a favorite. I bought a bunch of boxes this year, but most were originally reissued in past years.
	7:13pm Gary: I need to hear that one, Hyde ... and, wait, whoa, Brain Box came out this year? I totally forgot about it
	7:14pm tim abdellah: The Beach Boys "1967 – Sunshine Tomorrow" is pretty great. The new first-ever stereo mix of the "Wild Honey" album is phenomenal!

Encompasses not only his solo work, but also his earlier composition and production work at Stax. Haven't heard the whole thing yet, but any comp that has both "Soul Man" and "Shaft" on it can't be bad!

	8:14pm Gary: And speaking of boxes, The Fall singles collection, though I gather it doesn't include them all (based on some rather miffed Amazon reviews)

	8:39pm tim abdellah: Oh here's another one from 2017 - the second album by Chicago was given a remix treatment by Stephen Wilson, and sounds waaaaaay better than the original version. Yeah, I still have a soft spot in my heart for Chicago :)

	8:41pm Dean: Yeah, me, too. Saw a good story yesterday or the day before about Terry Kath, whose daughter produced a documentary about him. Those first couple, three albums, even including the monumental 4LP live set, were generally solid.

	8:59pm Uncle Michael: But yeah, I can still hang with the first three albums.
	9:04pm joe: I have jsut recently rediscoverd some joy in non Syd Barrett (which I never stopped listening to) Pink Floyd. Still have a hard time with Dark Side but I listend to The Wall all the way through for the first time in over 20 years on an overnight drive and was like oh yeah I really loved this album at one time
	9:05pm still b/p: From the haters: "Enough people were taken in by (lead singer Ian Anderson`s) awkward collage of fifteenth-hand theology, light-metal theatrics, and ill-informed rural nostalgia to make `Aqualung` an enormous hit among pretentious 13-year-olds of all ages." I was maybe a few weeks past 13 when I bought Aqualung and Thick As A Brick at the same time.

	9:11pm Gary: When I was studying music there was this one kid with super long hair who looooooooved Pink Floyd, and I guess loaned our theory teacher one of the albums, not sure which one. I still remember their convo when the teacher returned it: Teacher: I think ... I think you need to be on some kind of drugs to get anything out of this. Student: Well, yeah

	9:15pm Gary: I was probably around 13 when I bought Thick as a Brick -- I loved it because the newspaper reminded me of National Lampoon or Monty Python books, for some reason
	9:17pm cklequ: I think I loved that record for the same reason, Gary. I've been a sucker for unique packaging since then.
	9:18pm joe: I discovered TAAB around 12 or 13 as well in my uncles record collection. I had no idea who the guy Jethro Tull was and it was the fold out newspaper that caught my attention.

	9:20pm Uncle Michael: I'm trying to think of any other band or artist I've done a bigger 180 on. I can't.
	9:20pm joe: So many albums were swiped from that collectoin based on cover art. I remember having seen In The COurt of The Crimson king in his room when I was like 5 or 6 and that cover stuck with me forever that when I came across it during one of those raids it was definate take.
	9:21pm still b/p: I hoped Mom wouldn't take a look at TAAB pages inside and see the naughty connect-the-dots feature.

	9:24pm coelacanth∅: stillb/p @9.05 -people who throw the word "pretentious" around when they're talking about music that's beyond their comprehension (there are a few wfmu djs who fall into this category) are usually pretentious people who give themselves far too much credit for their scant knowledge of music.
	9:24pm joe: That's a tough one bacause over the last few years I have gone back to so many bands that I could listen to any more for so many years.

	9:28pm joe: Rush was a big one. I listened to a lot until about 18 but then could stomach them for like 25 years. Recently I started to enjoy them again but can't get past Signals (1982)
	9:28pm cklequ: I still like The Carpenters. I always hated AC/DC. I'm with Uncle Michael on the Jethro Tull train.
	9:29pm northguineahills: If you go back long enough, my 180 was techno and house music (at least the artsy stuff), also finding joy in classic rock and pre-90s pop music.

	9:29pm joe: Are we only going from good to bad because I can give you a bad to good one. I HATE HATE HATE HATED Kiss until a few years ago. Now I have to confess to be be a fan.
	9:29pm Gary: I can definitely say which album I've had the hardest 180 on, and that would be Pink Floyd's Animals
	9:29pm Gary: Either direction!
	9:30pm Uncle Michael: I've reevaluated or evolved on a lot of artists. Tull is my only true love/hate or hate/love flip.
	9:30pm northguineahills: I had a rough few months, and sat down in Brookln before I departed for FL, and I saw a live video of AC/DC on parade float in Australia, and I suddenly got them, I now dig them. It's weird how those moments happen.
	9:31pm coelacanth∅: i took several years off listening to jethro tull...except aqualung, which i've listened to as an easter tradition in it's entirety, almost every year for many decades. it is a perfect album. ...for 1/2 a year now i've been pretty heavily into the first 3 albums again.
	9:32pm northguineahills: @Gary: That was the first Pink Floyd album I liked (Then I discovered more Syd Barrett). (It might have been the same day discovered Ummagumma).
	9:32pm Uncle Michael: I think maybe I did a complete flip on the Doors.
	9:33pm Gary: REM might be the biggest band flip for me
	9:33pm joe: NOt to exhale smoke up Uncle Michaels posterior or play to his being in the room but I have very much adopted his show moniker of No Guilty Pleasures in my listening which has allowed me to go back and re-embrace much music that I thought I was too cool for school for anymore.
	9:33pm northguineahills: I have a Canadian friend who produces drill & bass. It took a me a few years, but he converted me to the darkside known as Rush.
	9:34pm coelacanth∅: i've always hated kiss. i know i will always hate kiss. i turn to something else when Diane or Matt W or whomever plays kiss. no.

	9:36pm joe: The Kiss thing is something my friends and I laugh about in that so many of us saw Kiss before we heard them and we expected them to sound like Slayer before there even was a Slayer :)

	9:37pm coelacanth∅: pink floyd i always loved, until the wall. that was terrible. it's still terrible; and i was so disappointed because that was my favorite band at the time. now, that's still my cut off; but i also haven't wanted to hear dark side in a few decades. i still know it's great; i just don't want to hear it. ...i love animals. (and i love the first 7 r.e.m. albums)

	9:41pm joe: I guess the closest thing to a full 180 for me from good to bad Yes. I only really listened to them for about a year part of that was probably just because of hte crowd I was hanging out with but I just can't do it. Something about them just sends me over the edge.

	9:42pm still b/p: I don't think it was so much a 180 flip as a refusal to stick with Aerosmith on their route. Big fan as a teenager (and still have a soft spot for early albums). Couldn't stand the comeback stuff, overdone clowny schlock.

	9:42pm northguineahills: I can't think of any artist's music I listened to after the age of 16 the I no longer liked, but, I do dislike later music from artists I like their earlier work.
	9:43pm coelacanth∅: actually my favorite rem album is life's rich pageant. ha! i've also been listening to a lot of yes for a few month now. relayer and fragile are both just stellar!
	9:44pm Uncle Michael: OK, bands that you didn't stop loving, but that jumped the shark, and you couldn't hang with them past that point. I'll start with the Guess Who, whom I adore up to the Road Food album, then...fuck it.

	9:52pm joe: One of the other things I have embraced more in the last few years is the not feeling pressured to judge based on a complete album. I'm way more comfortable with the out of those 13 tracks you produced 2 good songs and I'm ok with that as opposed to an all or nothing mindset.

Encompasses not only his solo work, but also his earlier composition and production work at Stax. Haven't heard the whole thing yet, but any comp that has both "Soul Man" and "Shaft" on it can't be bad!

Still have a hard time with Dark Side but I listend to The Wall all the way through for the first time in over 20 years on an overnight drive and was like oh yeah I really loved this album at one time

	9:30pm northguineahills: I had a rough few months, and sat down in Brookln before I departed for FL, and I saw a live video of AC/DC on parade float in Australia, and I suddenly got them, I now dig them. It's weird how those moments happen.
	9:31pm coelacanth∅: i took several years off listening to jethro tull...except aqualung, which i've listened to as an easter tradition in it's entirety, almost every year for many decades. it is a perfect album. ...for 1/2 a year now i've been pretty heavily into the first 3 albums again.
