Glenn, no problem. The director rented a theatre on Gerrard E. and showed it a few times, that's where i saw it. Come down to the Monarch Tavern on a tuesday nite, where i host a thing called Bring Your Own Vinyl.

Hello Joe, Bronwyn, all!! Regarding "Fire," a mutual friend says he prefers the covers to the original, can you guess who?
Avatar 12:24pm Joe B:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm coelacanth∅:

HoJack i made 6 cds of just my favorite Jimi and didn't put the original fire on them; but i did put i think 3 live versions. i cannot imagine anyone else's version being as good as Jimi's live ones. (i've never heard any that comes close)
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Hoboken Jack:

Tin Foil singer has a slight J Mascis vibe, not a bad thing.
Avatar 12:43pm Joe B:

Good point Jack! thanks for tuning in!

I was a little surprised that nobody I'd heard on-air since the sad Tommy Keene news had done a tribute, but I knew you'd have it covered, Joe. Thanks.

Heh I just bought that Stones LP for my teenage son yesterday for only $1. I figure it’s a decent intro for him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Michael 98145:

thank you, Joe B
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm paul b:

Saw Tommy Keene open for the Jam in 1982. A show in an odd building called Ritchie Colosseum at the University of Maryland. Good show!

My friend Derrick Hsu knew him, I think, because he and Derrick's "Fountain of Youth" bands recorded with the same guy at the time
  1:13pm Amy:

I'm also hoping for a Tommy Keene tribute. Still having trouble processing the news.

@Bill in W.O., I know what you mean. Figured Bob Brainen would come thru, being that I first heard Tommy Keene on one of Bob's shows in the 80s, but he was out of town.

Enjoying the show Joe! Don't forget to check your mailbox, Santa left you an early present! xo
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:17pm ChrisB.:

Tommy was one of those artists whose songs I would hear on the radio and say, "I've got to get that!" And actually would.
  2:18pm Amy:

Tommy's recent stuff is consistently really good. He quietly kept releasing good record after good record.
  2:18pm johnk77:

great show
sounds better louder
  2:19pm Bill in W.O.:

My friend Dave and I ran into Mr. Kene in the audience at IPO in LA. The Troubadour in 1999. He was gracious and indulged a couple of geek fans with a photo. The 80's stuff is fabulous and will maybe be remembered best, but I was impressed with how consistently good his new/recent stuff was and is. Gone way too soon, but still creatively vital and loved by folks who knew his stuff. Not the worst way to check out.
Avatar 2:20pm northguineahills:

It's a shame I'm just now discovering Tommy Keene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Michael 98145:

this really is a great set
Avatar 2:23pm Chris from DC:

I think it must be that complete World set I saw on Youtube over the weekend. Well worth seeking out.
  2:23pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

Great show, Joe
  2:29pm KP:

Just through JC with JB on the real radio
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:36pm ChrisB.:

Avatar 2:38pm ndbob:

nice tribute here Joe!
  2:39pm Bill in W.O.:

This live thing is great. Thanks again for doing this and for today's show, Joe.
  2:41pm Jeff formerly from Rahway:

Love this acoustic version of “Warren in the 60s.” It was my reintroduction to TK after I almost forgot all about him. Mr. Keene consistently released great music year after year.
  2:41pm Amy:

This live set is wonderful. Thanks, Joe.
Avatar 2:42pm Joe B:

one of his best songs, in my opinion. i guess this album Crashing the ether is not as highly regarded as some but i dig it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Michael 98145:

yet another reason why we listen to FMU
Avatar 2:44pm northguineahills:

Sorry, I missed it, when was this set recorded?
Avatar 2:44pm Joe B:

2006
Avatar 2:45pm Chris from DC:

This "Back to Zero Now" is fantastic.
Avatar 2:46pm Joe B:

originally broadcast Aug. 1, 2006. Recorded by Tommy at his home studio a week or so earlier
  2:47pm Dungaroos Kipawah:

Thanks Joe, beautiful & fitting tribute
  2:50pm PJ:

Thanks particularly for this live set, Joe.
Avatar 2:50pm Joe B:

damn should have done the whole show. so much great stuff to get to
Avatar 2:51pm northguineahills:

Thanks Joe, for the tribute!
Avatar 2:52pm Beast of Boonton:

Keene graduated from Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland (class of 1976),[2] which was also the alma mater of fellow musician Nils Lofgren
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Joe. This is great radio.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Hughie Considine:

His version of "Nighttime" shows off the Chilton-esque sound of his voice so well. Tommy, along with Scott Miller of Game Theory/Loud Family, carried the Chilton torch forward. Too damn sad they're all gone.
Avatar 2:54pm Joe B:

thanks everybody. appreciate it. sorry i didn't get to some of the requests.
Avatar 2:55pm Joe B:

great point Hughie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Michael 98145:
