	10:29pm Dean: Late 2000 the library where I was working was preparing to celebrate a centennial. I hired Alan Broadbent's trio to play the event. It was a spectacular show. Broadbent dedicated to me their performance of his beautiful tune, "Consolation." Later that evening, Broadbent was slated to play Jazz Bakery in Culver City. The library is on the east side of LA County, Culver City is to the west. (CC happens to be the site of my favorite pastrami joint, Johnny's, another story altogether.) Following the show, my fiancee and I drove from the eastside to the westside to hear Broadbent accompany Mark Murphy in a remarkable show. Neverforgettable.
