Besides doing a fantastic show yourself, you are one of the most generous FMU DJ's offering promos for other DJ's shows!!! As far as the loudness levels at 1970's concerts, I felt the way you did at that Stones concert for about 90% of the concerts I attended then, way too loud!!! I used to bring tissues with me to stuff in my ears to attenuate the DBs.
	3:54am Mark R: I just remember Jagger's voice was overwhelming--it sounded all distorted. It was just stupid. But the music was great, Billy Preston was very cool, his little solo spot was one of the highlights, and really kicked the rest of the show into high gear.

	4:51am Torbjørn: I'm 33 years old, so I'm not young, but I qualify for the under-40 crowd. It seems to me that music listening is extremely diversified. Pining for the time of albums seems common among a certain age group of music enthusiasts, but I think music formats are richer than they ever have been. Mixtapes, podcasts, playlists; it seems all of these have the potential to "tell a story" in their own way. Ways which haven't been explored in the album format. One could say the diversity of formats are taking us closer to a freeform radio style, even, mixing up everything and telling a more meta-style story. On top of that, there is no lack of albums either, physical or digital.
	4:55am miles: Ramsey Lewis hard day's night reminds me of a notion I had earlier . Dave brubeck & the Zombies have a not so coincidental affinity perhaps . I forget how the dates stack up but I wondered if She's Not There & Tell Her No weren't a couple of slightly more poppy Take 5 type numbers ..with a vocal of course..but yeah Zombies were jazzy

	5:00am miles: yeah, this notion of albums being the ultimate format I question. 45s in terms of records sound better for one thing. The Beatles(Lennon) talked about Pepper being a kind of synthetic false song cycle . Really , the classic form is the song I think...idk

	5:06am Mark R: I think it's a little bit in when you grew up. By the late 60s/early 70s, the album was the coin of the realm for any "serious" artists, and singles were just for the teenyboppers.
	5:10am Torbjørn: A related, and I think more interesting, question is whether music listening is done with less intent than before. Music listening devices are ubiquitous, and a big chunk of all recorded music is available at the click of a button. Where does this leave the situation of listening intently to a single album multiple times, often for lack of alternatives. Acquiring this deep appreciation of a single piece of music might be getting rarer over time, I'm not sure. Music also has to compete with a lot of other distractions; video, social media and all the other white noise. Music might be fading into the background a bit, something that's always there on your headphones, always changing, offering a little distraction on your commute or exercise session. In a sort of fashion, Brian Enos idea of ambient music seems to be applying to more and more styles of music. On the other hand, live music is healthier than it has been in a long time, so again we are seeing massive diversity. Thanks for the nice set, Mark.

Crumb once said that he liked 78's as opposed to LP's because that they forced you get up and change the record for every song fostering concentrated listening whereas albums could lead one into a more passive listening experience. Obviously, the same argument can be made for 45's vs. LPs.

	5:45am Torbjørn: Indeed it does. I've heard someone say on-air that 50% of the online listenership is outside of the US. I hope there is a great future for WFMU there, as an international bastion of freeform music. Is there any good freeform-like radio in København ? Oslo has Radio Nova, which is interesting, but doesn't meet the bar set by WFMU.
	5:51am Zeugo: There is something called The Lake Radio. You can find them online. They also arrange concerts and so - that's the closest. We have an okay national Radio Station also called 24/7 which tries somehow to do some alternative stuff, but with lots of ordinary and to me completely irrellevant "news programs" too. But you know - who can meet the bar WFMU. It is really - the more you get into it - an amazing station/thing. Such high standards. I have been especially fond of The Dusty Show (thursday). But Clay from that show has now won the honours of hosting the morning show 6-9 every day, so Dusty Show is off.
